Seems like some sort of foam seal or gasket for the heating/AC system is disintegrating and ejecting out my vents. Has anyone else had this and how much does it cost to fix? Or did it make a noticeable difference in your cooling/heating? It's not full summer heat yet here in Texas but it soon will be.

When I saw this I initially thought, rabies.

I would guess that it depends upon where the foam was supposed to be originally. That would dictate what needs to be taken apart and to what extent. Have you checked your cabin filter to see if it might be coming from that area?

It's definitely foam, its consistent and it's in uniform strips. I've seen it before in other vehicles just didn't expect it to happen in a Tundra.

True but I'm seeing if anyone else has had this repaired and how much. There's not many other systems under the hood with foam gaskets that are in line with the A/C vent system. I haven't checked the cabin filter but I will tonight. I doubt it's the cabin filter since it's pretty new but it would be great if that were the issue since that's an easily accessible area.

Probably the foam sealant for closing up joints in the ducting system.

This is a common problem on Toyota vehicles. What happens is the vehicle is not traded in every 1-3 years like other manufactures due to longevity and owners start seeing things they never seen before like:
-weight gain due to not walking to work.
    -buy tires
You know, stuff like that. Lol

Seriously, it isn't a problem unless you want to take your dash apart. Not worth it in my opinion. The foam sealant will blow out shortly.

Yea, my first thought was a critter chewing up something. Are you having to dodge any little flying turds?

mine has done this. the vent right beside the drivers door has a thin strip of foam flapping around. i've reached in one with a pair of needle nose pliers and just pull it out. idk if i should have or not but i havent noticed any issues.

i wish i had a picture, it doesnt look like sealant the way it sits it almost looks like a rudder to direct the air. could just be stuck that way but like i said i pulled mine out with pliers and threw it away.

My 07 is, well, 9 yrs old. No issues like that............yet. My 2 yr extended warranty is up tomorrow. Quite frankly I wasted money paying for it.

I'd check your cabin air filter. You may have small little rodent friends making a home....

I checked the cabin filter just now. Looks good, no evidence of critters and the material of the cabin filter doesn't look like the foam strips coming out of the vents.

FYI: In the light the filter looks filthy but it's a metallic mesh that doesn't reflect light well. It's not as dirty as it looks.

There is foam on the ducts and it he a/c box on blend doors. It may be deteriorating on the blend doors... not worth the repair iMO until something doesn't work

Yeah, I haven't noticed any loss of cooling capacity, still blows cold air and lots of it.
