Hi everyone! I've recently come into possession of a 2006 toyota tundra trd access cab. The truck currently has 60k miles and what appears to be 'revtech' leveling spacers. This seems to be the most active first gen forum on the internet, so I come bearing questions. My initial plan is to remove any suspension mods and replace with my own. I'm currently looking into the bilstein 6112 and 5160 combo as my own take on a 'trd pro' setup. My first question has to do with owning an access cab. Bilstein says not to raise the front end more than 1" Can anyone give me the reason for this? I also noticed in the instructions for the 5160's that the position and direction of the reservoir is mounted differently depending which side of the truck its on. Is it necessary to position them in the way pictured? I have more questions and hope to post pictures as soon as possible. Super stoked for the future, Thanks!

Welcome from Ca. I have no idea why they say you can't lift more than 1". I've seen lots of 1st gens lifted more than an inch. I don't think it matters which direction you mount the resis if they're REMOTE. If you piggy back 'em it might matter in terms of clearing the shock mount.

@01erionracing what lift do you have' what shocks?

Warren, I think he just means only 1" if he uses that particular Bilstein shock. :notsure:

Yes, both the 6112 and 5100 are limited to 1” per bilsteins instruction. This is also unique to the access cab. I’m not opposed to this. I’m just wondering if anyone knew the reason why.

Not sure exactly why, but Bilsein has a good reason for it. Give them a call and ask directly. Congratulations on your purchase! The first gen is a great vehicle. Let us know “why” on your quest for knowledge.

    Welcome Tay2610!

I have 2002 AC. Here is my setup
The first setup was replaced the stock Toyota shock/strust with Bilstein HD part 24-185387/24-185394
Year later I replaced the front with Bilstein 0-2.5" lift 24-261425 and set at the highest lift position. The rear still with Bilstein HD
Right now the front I have ADS c/o with DSC clicker and the rear ADS piggyback and Deaver leaf pack.

I’ve sent an email, I’ll let you know when I hear back.

When you had the 5100’s on the highest setting did there seem to be any negative ride characteristics compared to your HD strut setup?

So, being that I’m only lifting the front 1” and running a 265/70R16 tire is there any advantage to buying an aftermarket UCA? Uniball? Ride quality? Alignment?

You need to do Bilstein 5100’s at one of the middle settings which will give you that 1” lift without using spacers.

Save your money unless you are doing serious offroading. Do the 5100’s and new ball joints (upper and lower).

Do you mean 265/75r16 or 265/70r17? Either will fit without a lift but 1” from 5100’s will take out some of the rake and look better.
