Popping noise during downshift

    Anybody have this? Mine is a 2007 5.7. The u joints are good.anybody??

    How did you verify the u-joints are good? I have heard that song and dance, removed driveshaft and the joint fell apart.

    U joints can look "good" but the only way to tell is jack it up and check for any play. Another clue is if they look as dry as the Sahara. I lube my Tundra myself. Even some dealers miss the U joint located just north of the transfer case. A bitch to get to.

    On my 06 tundra when the U joints were going bad I would get a real funny squeaking noise. Sounded like a dozen mice were under my truck freaking out.

    Yeah, the 1 st
    Yeah, the 1st gen Tundra U joints aren't exactly a piece of cake to lube either.

    yep bank account is running low from it..
    they are easy use a thin head grease joint, found mine on ebay and use a flexible hose and its easy. i have even tried it using a normal grease fitting with no problems on the first gen or on my 1st gen tacoma.

    I cheat some i use a battery grease gun ;). Best thing in the world when working under a truck.

    i did not take them out but did take driveline down and used the prybar method. I will change both. thanks
