looking at the 18 Tundra Crewmax SR5 TRD Sport 4x4 5.7L as my next truck. The total MSRP is $48.8K. The dealer offered $46.6K out of the door price tag. I countered with $43K and they rejected. What is a fair/reasonable price tag for this model w/ TRD Sport package? Thanks.

I know I've suggested this a dozen times on this forum but I stand by it. Essentially, for about $50 you get "what the dealer pays" for every build + package + options. Not a good tool if you haven't decided what make of vehicle you want. But once you have, it's awesome. Basically the "dealer cost" is what a dealership employee would pay, but it tells you how low you can offer w/o being ridiculously insulting:

    http://fightingchance.com/

Don't feel bad offering this amount or just over it, because 1. dealers also get paid by Toyota for every vehicle they sell and, so their profit isn't just what you bring, and 2. dealerships start paying Toyota for every truck delivered to them (and they don't pick which they get) after a grace period-- so if a truck goes unsold a couple of months, it costs the dealership money, 3. the amount of incentive per vehicle each dealer is paid by Toyota depends on what their sales volume is... so if they're clos to a higher incentive tier, they'll make deals in a customer's favour to move a few extra to reach that next threshold. *caveats: best deals are for hard-to-sell colours; vehicles still on the lot after a couple months; or near big dealer-incentive dates- end of each month or (best) end of fiscal year. These you can get at or very near the "dealer cost" using these reports.

The ads read like an AM radio late night talk show (Art Bell, anyone?), but I found it gave me the info I needed, and that confidence made me sure enough to say what I expected to pay.

In my case, I found the configuration and rare colour I really wanted on one lot, but the sales guy blew me off. So I went to a high-volume dealership in the same county, made a deal for a vehicle on their lot (same everything as the one I wanted except colour) then, when we'd already agreed on the price, told him about the one I knew was on the back lot (awaiting recall repair for the rear bumper) and asked if he could get that one for me instead. Easily done (b/c the high-volume dealerships have some clout with others in the region-- they're more likely to get the "good stuff" a smaller dealer might want to trade for another time) and all it took was a few hours for the original dealer to do the recall work they'd been putting off.

I score for a bunch of reasons. But definitely believe that report was worth the money and saved me thousands more than it cost me.

Has the dealer added any extra's (lift, level, rims, tires, etc.) to the vehicle? I paid $44,000 plus tax and fee's in Feb for my sport and most dealership's in my area are selling them pretty close to that price.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Welcome from Cleveland, Ohio!

I believe it also depends on what time of year it is and dealer inventory.

For me my dealer had over 40 Tundras available when I bought mine last June. As you get closer to the next model year coming in, you can get usually a better price.

It really depends on your location... I bought a 2018 crewmax trd offroad for just over 42k + tax... This is in Ohio. I know the sport will be different. Does it have accessories? Bed liner, running boards, etc?

Finally got my 2018 Tundra Crewmax TRD Sport 4x4 w/ running boards, tinted windows, spray bed liner, etc. on Labor Day. The MSRP listed $49295. I was firm with $43k OTD. Came back from vacation to find a bunch of msgs from various dealerships. Restarted the negotiation during Labor Day weekend. My final offer was $43,450. On Labor Day, they called to accept my offer Patience is a virtue. So far, love it!
