    Hey all,

New guy here looking to learn as much as I can before I buy a tundra later this year. I've been lurking and I've learned some already. Any advice is appreciated.

Based on family, I know I already need a crewmax, I'd love a TRD Pro, but I will more than likely end up (and be happy) with a SR5.

    Glad to be here.

I have a 15 crewmax sr5. I'm very happy with it but had to put a lot if money to get it how I want it, I should have bought a pro. Just depends on what you wanna do with your truck.

Welcome! Are you sure you'd be happy with the SR5? You can also get an SR5 and make it similar to a Pro depending on how much you'd like to do.

Welcome from CO. If you need the extra cab space then the CMax is definitely the way to. The hardest part is over. You decided on a Tundra. The easiest part is for us to help you spend your money. heh heh....:oldglory:

Thanks guys, I like the idea of the Pro for a truck set up for off road with a factory warranty, but honestly because of my location (long island, ny) I would be 90%/10% with the 10% being on the beach. Would the SR5 stock suspension be sufficient? Should I consider the the SR5 Upgrade with safety and TRD package (not TRD Pro)? I know down the road the Mod Bug will bite...

ETA. Also towing a smallish camper on the beach Would be part of that 10%...

Once you start modifying you won't wanna stop lol. I wish I'd bought the pro. So far..
    Trd pro grill
    Trd cool air intake
    Bilstein shocks
    Plastic dip emblems
    Toyo tires
    Step bar
    Corsa exhaust
And bunch of little things here n there it adds up.

10% on a flat beach?? SR5 with TRD suspension upgrade is more than adequate, especially if you don't want to spend wasted money for nothing. It's all about your budget. Keep in mind, this is Tundras.com, not "Lets spend hard earned money on Tundra suspension upgrades I do not need.com" which a few here seem to forget. I expect other members to chime in that live in your area to give you sound advice.

I have a large family, 4 kids, the SR5 with the front bench seat makes a great second family car. And you can always add the TRD Pro parts afterwards.
    Oh, and welcome!

Thank you for the voice of reason. Lol. If I had my way it would be the PRO for sure, but my wallet (and wife) would be much happier with a realistic need vs. want list.

Hey welcome to Tundras.com. I went with an SR5 w/TRD package, at the time the TRD Pro wasn't even a rumor. I'm jealous of the TRD Pro's, but even if they were an option for me, I don't know that I would have spent the extra money. It's a tough call that depends on your finances and how you justify things. I will say, even though I would rather a Pro for obvious reasons, I still love my SR5, though I did put a TRD Pro grill on it haha.

I love the look old school "Toyota" of the PRO grill. It is a mod I will look into.
