Hey hopefully I’m using the forum correctly as I’ve just joined.

I’m looking at changing my exhaust to a true dual by changing all the piping to 3” and having two circle case magnaflow mufflers and two cherry bomb glasspacks at the tips. One friend said it shouldn’t cause any drop in fuel efficiency or horsepower and another friend said there would be too much flow and it would drain power.

Any other opinions out there on this or how to make it work? Thanks

Here's what I've learned about exhaust. 1st if you are dead set on something, you arent gonna change your mind. 2nd @dirtydeeds is the exhaust master for all thing Tundra. So if you are willing to change your mind call him, hes extremely knowledgable and very helpful. 3rd, Welcome to the party!! We have a lot of knowledge around here so stick around, itll be fun.

If you get long tube headers, going with 3" tubing, duals, and some kind of cross over (X or H pipe), makes sense (and power) according to most. Some might say you'll have a drop in low end torque with 3" and duals if you don't do the headers. I just did long tube headers and exhaust in 3", 2x magnaflow 12867 (5" round), duals dumping over rear axle, and X-pipe. Also tuned by DAP.

@Larmand I do want to stick with what I got. I explained to my friend what I want the truck to sound like and he said with this particular setup it’ll be what I want and shouldn’t drop power or if it did it wouldn’t be a noticeable amount.

@UTTundra there will be a crossover and I’m not planning on changing to headers now but I’m having them go off the cats to 3” so in the future it would be easy to change to headers as everything will be set up for them. My glasspacks and mufflers are 4” and the mufflers are a 14” case I believe but 20” overall. I attached a photo if that’s any help

Your best configuration for low end torque is to use the magnaflow after a y pipe into the stock tailpipe.

Hey man thanks for the reply! My exhaust is actually getting done right now. There were two sets of cats so the second set was taken off. Glasspacks are not being installed just the two magnaflow bullets with a crossover into dual exhaust. I do plan on putting long tube headers on it in the future though

If long tubes are in your future then dual exhaust is the right move. I’ll pm you about the cats.

Ended up not using them. Figured if just the magnaflow were too loud we could add the cherry bombs but it’s perfect without em

Very nice. Sounds pretty close to what my dirtydeeds setup sounds like. Granted videos never do represent the sound very well.

Hell yeah, it was either out the sides like the stock or straight out but I think the straight back is cleaner

Like the way the duels out the back look. But I would’ve already have smashed the crap out of those things within the first month of owning my truck LOL.

I’m surprised I haven’t smashed my single side outlet yet. The day that happens is the day I chop it off.
