So cool. Will you be in the Denver area? Possible meet up?? A lot of folks like to try to climb all the 14teeners here. You could probably land on most of them with a chopper. Thin air with a chopper, at 14000 ft, is always very dicey at best, let alone the crazy wind/weather that can change on a dime within minutes. Even with all the GPS candy, a lot of people still manage to get lost here in the mountains in CO. It's good that we have you and your cohorts to do the occasional rescues. CO is for sure a good place to train at high altitude. Not easy at all at altitude with a chopper, especially when you really need "air". Very, very cool pic.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I won't be spending any time in Denver. Only a hit and run if we take a patient there. High altitude landings are a lot of fun but also a lot of work. Our new hire has mountain experience and is a sharp pilot. Weather conditions lined up and there was no way I was passing up an opportunity to set some personal records. As the weather gets warmer our ability to be that high will be reduced. Nice to be flying in Colorado again but I'm ready to hook up a bucket and drop water on fire all summer

Quinte International Air Show at CFB Trenton this weekend. Even though I'm working the entire weekend it's still pretty cool... soo much history. Everything from Bi Planes to F22's. Even a B52 bomber.

My brother in law just crashed a helo-kopter. He was crop dusting and got into some telephone(?) wires. Got a scratch on his finger. Lucky bastard!

Went to the vintage aircraft show last week. Great time and my 3yr old loved it. 3ddbeecaadd8c5209909bd06b98ab67d_24c1242b232a818e9cee174cd75745f359a97d13.jpg32bff0a47976abbd633e17903854d405_83c8485fbdcedefb3427b3078459157d79dbbab0.jpgba607e74c744e203ea5f07afcf7e1942_21c16bba37699d97c2001c0fccc55e6ca3147b8c.jpg

I've seen your truck around Tucson and wondered about the sticker. Never seen one like it before and thought that it looked cool. I've been flying since 1982 - started in the Navy and then went to work for Customs. I retired a few years ago when I hit the mandatory retirement age of 57 (for CBP). Still flying fixed wing part time but I really miss the helicopters. I wish that there were more rotor wing opportunities in Tucson.

Your job looks good - lots of variety.

Bought a 1948 Piper PA-17 "Vagabond" with 1760 hours since new. Does not have an electrical system and has a Continental C-85 installed. Original engine was a 65HP Continental. Gross weight is 1150 pounds with 45MPH stall speed, SBS seating, and no flaps. Cruise 80MPH @ 2100 and 90MPH @ 2300RPM. It meets LSA rules.

Use a portable hand held radio with headset mounted with Ram mounts connected to an exterior antenna, works great, too:

    Thanks, Steve6 and MotoTundra!

The Vagabond is a great stick & rudder airplane that I'm getting back to basics with.

Attended Sentimental Journey Fly-In at Lock Haven PA earlier this week.

My great uncle had quite a bit to do with the development if prop driven aircraft before WW2 he was working on different prop configurations trying to get more speed. 2,3,4,10,12 blade props, counter rotating and so on. One story I remember is he flew into an airfield in Texas and the owner of the field wouldn't sell him fuel because he said his prop was broken. What he had was a prop with one blade and a counterweight on the other side. He finally sold him enough fuel to make it to the next airfield after my uncle convinced him that he flew in with it, he was going to fly out of there with it.
