Has anyone been successful with a cheap pump (12v or hand pumping) to remove oil from the dip stick hole?
There’s dozens of these little pumps on the innerweb but most don’t give the diameter of the suction line. Many that do give the diameter are to big.

I haven’t done it. Maybe 1/4” stainless tubing to some sort of hand pump or pull a little at a time by plugging the top like a straw. Not sure what you are trying to do it for. You looking to do it for oil analysis or something?

The dealership overfilled by a couple quarts. I don’t really want to try and get the partial out of the drain plug.

I have one that’s a little pricey I use on my Mercedes. It pulled out exactly as much as in the pan before stopping. It’s a whole lot less messy too.

Yep, I have looked at about 40 different ones, from about $13 to $125. Like I said, it’s hard to be sure their tubing will fit, the hole is about 1/4” . I did the pull and drip thing with a 3/16 tube for about a pint and 1/2, but it’s tiresome.

Started using a Mitivac fluid evacuation pump when we got a 2017 KIA Sorento. There are nearly 20 bolts and clips to remove before you can even see a drain plug. It works great on the KIA since the oil filter is on top. I also used it with the 2008 Tundra, but still had to get to the oil filter.

To answer the question, it comes with three hoses (see below) and I had no issue as long as the engine was warmed up and then allowed to cool down for a few hours. Insert a plastic tube into a hot engine and it just might not be good. Remove the old oil through the dipstick tube, fill with new oil, then place the evac tube in the oil container, flip the switch to pump the old oil into the container, be careful not to overfill the first 5-quart container since you have about 8-quarts, then dispose of at the recycle center.

Details for the Mitivac 7102 system:
Features a large 8.8 liter (2.3 gallon) capacity bi-functional manual unit to extract and dispense a wide-range of fluid types.
Cost is a little over $100.
Clean and simple way to evacuate and dispense fluids - Note you only pump long enough to create a vacuum, then let it transfer the oil/fluid. Takes about 10-15 minutes.
Reservoir is constructed of durable polyethylene and will not rust or corrode.
Automatic flow control valve prevents the unit from overfilling during use and automatically shuts off at 8 liters.
    Features 0.23" OD x 5' long (5.7 mm OD x 1.5 m long) dipstick tube, 0.26" OD x 5' long (6.6 mm OD x 1.5 m long) dipstick tube, 0.41" OD x 5' long (10 mm OD x 1.5 m long) main evacuation tube.

I don’t have faith in their ability to check tire air pressure.
They are also about a 90m round trip away.

its just a 14mm drain plug, and like 6 12mm bolts for the skid plate, it will take 5 minutes. no need for fancy pumps.

the guys doing fluids at dealerships i wouldnt trust with a go-cart

Maybe they just added new oil and forgot to drain the old oil?!
Probably all a plot to get you to come back to the dealership so they can try and sell you something.:anonymous:

I get what you are trying to do....but maybe you could do a combination of these two ideas and not spend a penny. Use a shop vac over the fill hole. Slowly loosen drain plug to make sure the shop vac is doing its job and you can swap your drain plug to the fumoto...then just measure out what you want.

Very possible, and as you should know if you are familiar with my avatar, the dealership plot is probably part of a greater conspiracy to sterilize working class Americans.

I appreciate the thought my brother, but the situation is compounded by a minor detail that i failed to mention: my tool chest is 1300 miles away in Oregon, locked up in a storage rental unit, lol.

yeah that sucks. I was going to ask if you had relocated up here yet or not.... maybe go to one of those "you wash it yourself car washes" and use their vacuum and grab a crescent wrench on the way over that you can return after your done. Good luck though. I also don't trust the dealers around here and was just in the service manual getting my list of stuff i need to do this weekend. Now to draw straws to see where I am getting an alignment done at.

I’m gonna leave AZ in 2 weeks tomorrow. I’m driving the Tundra, pulling a little trailer and my queen is driving her taco. We will have our Oregon tags and drivers licenses before the end of July, we hope.

Yeah that site is huge. I’ve heard that it’s suposed to be bigger then that new one in Beaverton which is the current biggest high school in Oregon.

I have swapped in a fumoto valve with full oil in the sump. Since your two quarts high, perfect! I only lost less than 1/2 qt. Make sure engine is cold.

-screw out drain plug until you can see it leaking a bit. Keep pressure on the back until you feel the last thread come out. Slip thumb over drain hole, drop plug. Have ready or someone else hand you the Fumoto. Slide Fumoto valve in as you slide your thumb out. Keep pressure on the back side of valve and screw in. Make sure you have a gasket on the Fumoto or you will get to do this all over again. Ask me how I know.

Yeah, 1300 miles away is a problem.

I would just do the same with the drain plug then to drop the oil.
