Hello everyone! My name is Fernando and I recently bought a 2004 Tundra 4.7L V8 SR5 Double Cab 4WD. I'm learning everything as I go so please cut me some slack. The truck has had some work done to it from the previous owner but I don't have any info on exactly what was done other than custom fenders, roof was chopped in order to weld in the roll cage, custom rag top, air compressor and lock box in the bed, it was lifted and leveled, has a winch, has front & rear custom bumpers, custom controls for the winch & compressor as well as custom center console storage, 16x??? offset ??? wheels with Mud terrain 315/75/16 tires and I'm pretty sure it has aftermarket suspension but have no clue on any of the brand names on any of the products used in this build and need help desperately lol jk. Welcome from CO. Looks like a fun truck. Wonder if the previous owner was building a chase truck or something like that?

I'm not really sure what they had planned for the truck but it only has 80k miles on it and I paid under $10k so I'm super happy with the deal I got. I plan on buying some new wheels and tires very soon and was looking for advise on offset/backspacing I should go with for a 17x9/10 setup?

17x9 wheel should be perfect for anything you will run on that truck unless you want a tire that is really wide.

Right now it's on 16" wheels with 315/75 so i wanted a little more wheel that's why I'm looking for a 17" and going with a 315/70 tire. I'm leaning towards Cooper Discoverer STT PRO for the tires. Here are a few pictures of the interior, lock box and compressor in the back. You may want to pad those roll bars or wear a helmet, heard you can crack your head open pretty easy if you don't.

Yeah those wheels will be perfect. I have 17x9.5 wheels on my Jeep and they have worked well for tires 12.50-14" wide.

Welcome from CO, Fernando. Very, very nice 04. Clearly you know what 4 wheeling is all about. (ie; not posing one of your truck's front tires on a 6" rock with no mountains or mud in sight).:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

You don't need any slack. You may want to start a build thread and go in more detail. Especially for the 1st gen Tundra owners here that no doubt would be highly interested in what you have done. (not bad for a "slacker" heh heh)

People do that? I had no idea, I've been in Colorado for just over a year now and realized I need a truck. I drove in from SoCal with my Accord and RSX thinking I knew what winter driving was like.DCAW3344.jpg FRPJ5767.jpg APPJ7225.jpg rsx001.jpg rsx002.jpg

Now I daily an 03 A4 quattro sport package and have the Tundra when that doesn't cut it. PKNK8532.jpg

No disrespect but did anyone read in the post where I stated that the previous owner did all of the work to the truck. I will start a build thread and try my best to note everything that has been done to the truck so far to the best of my knowledge. Thank you for your input :)

Apparently not me. Guilty as charged. I have a hard time reading fine print nowadays. Went back and noticed "previous owner". Cut me some slack too..(sarc) I was looking at the cool pics of your 04. Now where is my DEC 70 Playboy mag I "miss"-placed? Need to some more reading... :annoyed::bowdown:

Welcome! Looks like a nice truck you picked up. Being 4WD and fully caged it is ready for the mountain trails. Would be interested in all the details. When we plan a Colorado trail run you are welcome to come along.

Haven't really done any in my Tundra yet. I did in my Tacoma and 84 pickup.

I like the Divide area in the Hayman Fire area. Good open trails (good for stretching out that mid-travel suspension) that doesn't give you a bunch of Colorado pin striping. Excellent area to open up an AR as well....
