I have a 2012 Tundra with everything on it. The back up camera is very poor. Can a 2017-18 camera be used with the cirved lines etc as a replacement and approximately if possible would that cost please.

The dimensions of the tailgate handles on 2nd and 3rd gens look to be the same. The handle design is different, so you might have to switch out the handle and camera. Here are the parts for that:
    2018 Camera
    2018 Handle
As you can see, it's not cheap. The camera quality will be a lot better but I don't know if the camera itself creates the on-screen guidance lines or if the head unit does that. I have a feeling it's the camera but you might want to check with a 3rd gen guy who has swapped their head unit. Maybe @Roman can provide insight

Welcome. The backup camera on my 2018 has a less than impressive perspective or resolution. The lines don't curve as you turn, either, on my 2018.

Camera Source sells a OEM replacement camera for the 2008-2013 Tundra backup camera. I bought the plug & play Gentex mirror and tailgate handle/camera kit and it works great with good resolution for a 3.5" rear view mirror LCD.
