i recently purchased a 2017 and about to install a pro comp leveling kit 3-1.
I was thinking of putting on 295/70 18 tires, will I have to remove anything so they won’t rub and do I need to get new rims with an offset so they don’t rub. I am very new to this and don’t want to really cut anything.
    Thanks

May rub a little bit with stock offset rims. Pretty sure you will just have to remove the front mud flap thing. Best thing would be to look at some of the TRD Pro builds on here who are running that size and see if they require a spacer or not. Maybe some of those guys will chime in. That tire size is definitely your best bet though.

Thanks Mike, if I bought new rims would you have an educated guess what the offset should be so I don’t have to remove the flap.
I will try looking under the TRD pro builds , if I can find them lol. Thanks

295/70/18 is a great size for Tundras. skinny 35"s so less cutting for sure.

With any luck you won’t need new rims. Pretty sure those guys are getting by with just the front flap removal which takes 30 seconds. If they happen to run spacers then I might consider different rims with somewhere between a +12 to +30 offset to avoid having to run the spacers. I would get the tires put on with your stock rims and if it comes down to it you can always order new ones and then sell your stocks. There shouldn’t be any cutting involved at all with that size.

I have +12 offset wheels with 295/70’s, all I had to do was move the front liners forward and remove the flaps. Not even close to the body mount with 2.4 and 2.6* of caster, though I expect to have to do it once I get new UCA’s.

I would still inquire about whether the guys with stock wheels are running spacers or not to be sure but if not then yeah just get them installed and see where to go from there, the modifications will be minimal if any since your 3/1 will give you more room than the 2” lift on the Pro models. No problem man.

By the way, explore the site a little and you will find a section just for TRD PROS under the 3rd gens. You may be able to get some more accurate answers by typing 295/70/18 into the search bar and see what advice others have gotten.

I’m running a 3/1 with Method NV which I believe are +25 and 295/70/18. The installers removed the front flaps and liners which I plan to modify and put back. No rubbing whatsoever without them though.

The 295/70R18 and 3/1 combo on offset between +18 to +60 (stock rim) is a pretty safe bet, most you'll have to do is remove that front little flap and maybe push in the liner. That's what I did and I'm 2.5/1.5 and on +18 rims. Note that different brands of that tire may have slightly different dimensions, your current coil height, and final alignment may change clearances, why peeps say "every truck is different".

You'll be going 6% faster than what the speedo says so don't speed! (or get it re-calibrated). And you'll take a mpg hit with the added weight.

295/70/18 +20 offset and 3/1 readylift. Had to remove both front flaps and then cut the liner. I would rub in reverse.

Blue, do you know what alignment specs/caster you're running? I have the SCS rays as well on my '18 and had to do the CMC with 295/70 Toyos. I keep hearing every truck is different, but boggles my mind that all these guys with similar setups don't rub aside from some plastic manipulation. Wondering if its the caster, or guys have different expectation of what rubbing is acceptable. Thanks

That’s part of the equation. The more caster you have, the further back your tire is.

This. I believe my caster is around 2.5. Also i am still on stock uca that’s why I don’t rub. The moment I put aftermarket there is a good chance I will rub which is one of the reasons I did the chop right now. So my recommendation is to just do the chop to those that are planning on running 295 tires or larger.

It's nice to see another desert sand mica tundra with mods!! Most of the ones I've seen are all stock, which is why it was so hard for me to decide what wheels and stuff would look good with it!

    Hey guys
Would it be pushing it with a 285/75 R18 with the set up I have, pro comp 3-1 (just installed it Sunday), it's a slightly taller tire 1/2" but narrower? Would they install with just the removal of the front mud flap?

For me it was a pretty easy decision after seeing @Grey Wolf’s truck. Loved the simplicity of the BFD’s.

I bet you’d be able to fit em. The width is the biggest issue, I’d think a tire shop would test fit em for you if that’d ease your mind.
