    Good day everyone,

Not only am I new to the forums, but new to the whole truck buying/modification world. I'm in the process of purchasing a Tundra TRD pro and would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction as to which community threads I should be reading for guidance.

    Thank you in advance!

Welcome from CO. There are threads on every conceivable topic; TRD pro is pretty capable stock, so just depends on what you plan to do to the truck.

Thanks for the reply. Nothing too crazy, probably just a 3 inch lift, new wheels/tires, and other modest mods.

    Welcome!

Not sure how far you are into the deal but...

I’ve read others recommend getting an SR5 and doing the pro options after the fact. Pro is good, but depending on what you want to do with it, aftermarket may be better. If you’re going to be replacing the shocks for your lift anyway, all that’s left that’s “pro” is the exhaust, intake, sway bars, and branding. As I understand it there’s better than TRD exhaust (@dirtydeeds pipes). Stock intake on the SR5 is good for most. The sway bars probably wont work with a 3” lift (I think I’ve read max it’ll handle is 2)”), so if you want those you’ll have to get new ones that fit with the lift. The branding is easy enough to add... except maybe the stamped bedside panel...

    It’s a thought anyway :)

Welcome! A Pro is already 2” higher than stock in the front. Usually you need new UCA’s for 3” and above. Bigger/heavier tires to fill that wheel well is a loss in mpg. Remember the stock offset is +60, going below +20 and into negative for wheels will mean trimming/cutting to prevent rub at full turn, and wheels sticking outside the body will shoot rocks up the side unless you also get fender flares. Just stuff to think about.

Thought stock was +60; is the PRO different?

You may be right, it’s definitely around +60, I pulled “+65” off a quick google search. I remember I had the misconception that I should be looking at 0 offset until I found out how deep stock actually sit. We Tundra owners don’t have much play in the front well. Nothing a nice aftermarket bumper and CMC/BMC’s can’t fix lol.

Hello and thank you. This is very helpful. Would it be easier to purchase say a non TRD ProTundra, with just the TRD packages instead? Hope my question makes sense.

I could be wrong, havent looked for them myself, but someone will come along and correct me soon enough:

    There are 3 TRD's:
    Pro
    Sport
    Off Road

Welcome from CO. If you don't need all the bells and whistles then consider a non TRD SR5 and Do It Yourself. More fun and will be better!

Welcome from Mass. if your gonna be lifting it 3 inches better off looking at an SR5 or limited depending on what you want for options. The PRO is nice but i think its already leveled with 2.5.

I know some people new to Tundras get the TRD Off-Road package mixed up with the TRD Pro. Are you sure you're in the process of getting a Pro and not just a TRD Off-Road? The Pros are pretty rare (you probably won't find any brand new ones anywhere), and even used ones are selling for a premium (totally not worth it, in my opinion). As others have said, you're better off just getting an SR5 and modding it to your liking, especially if you were planning on doing suspension mods in the first place. Really the only thing you can't get on a non-Pro vs a Pro is the "TRD Pro" bed stamp.
