Taco Tunes vs. Tech 12 volt vs. another PNP

Another thing too is he has cheaper packages too and that would afford you to put some money in sound deadening which should make a big improvement as well. Also my package included the front tweeter factory sail panels which is nice.

Did you ever get going on a system? For my birthday my family got together and hooked me up with the funds to reach my $1500 goal.

 

Damn gena!!! It is about to go down for you man. That’s good stuff right there. I did, but he did not have the speakers I was inquiring about. But I was able to order some front components, rear coaxials and some Soundskins. It should be here sometime this week. I got my amp all buttoned up this past weekend so I’m ready for them speakers.

 

Alright... a HUGE Thank you to you guys! Without your guidance I would not have reached out to Tech12Volt and gotten ahold of James. That dude is awesome. He knows his stuff and made me feel comfortable with a setup that he made to fit in my budget. I’ll be honest I was going ********* all the way. Two weeks ago I submitted a request for info through Facebook twice... No Response. I reached out to the through this forum... No Response. Live chatted 4-5 times and we would get 1 question in then nothing. I was about to call but by this time James had already answered all my questions, put together and package for me and more. Why not go with him! So I did! Like a kid seeing those presents under the tree. Santa UPS can’t come soon enough!!!

I went with a package that I have seen a few other get. 2 JL Audio 10s, custom box, Hertz Front and Rear Speakers and a Kenwood amp that has a built in processor allowing me to throw away the JBL Crap Amp all together.

 

Really good prices. You can’t build it yourself for less.

$600-800 range. But does sound like it would work. Basicalky sounds like and amp with a dsp built in. And they may even make vehicle specific harnesses. I doubt that they include that in the price though

 

Anybody want to purchase this REALLY nice JBL system? Toyota charges $795 for it. I’m willing to give you a hell of a deal!!! Lol.
New system sounds great! The highs are awesome. The lows need a little help. I’m going to add a sub amp on Tuesday. But that damn JBL amp is gone!!! Sorry I forgot about install pics!

Did this come with a PNP harness for the amp replacement? Did you utilize all the stock speaker wires or have to run new ones?

James at Tech12Volt hooked me up with everything I needed. Used the same speaker wire.

 

I contacted James, but he is on vacation so I haven't had the chance to speak with him. Can you elaborate on how it all went? with respect to installation, I have heard many say he provides instructions, how about the wiring? When you said you used the same speaker wiring, was it plug and play? Or did you have to splice in? Just wanted a little more info on how it will be. I have been on the fence between tech12volt and taco tunes myself.

 

No splicing of factory wiring with a set up from James. I personally went with him because for roughly the same price of the SQ1 package I was able to install a full JL Audio system, replace the head unit with a much better one than that crappy Entune unit, and put in a considerable amount of sound deadening which has it's own benefits outside of the music quality improvement.

 

I’m going to be no help. I paid to have mine done. The installer said he was surprised because every little thing he needed was there and the job was a lot easier than he expected. But again that no help.

 

That makes it much easier! LOL.

I have past experience. I used to really be in to installing systems in to my cars way back when (90’s and early to mid 2000’s) but last few vehicles were left untouched.

I fully intended to install this one myself and feel comfortable doing so, but obviously if there are plug and play options out there that will give me a similar end result, I would love to go that route. More in particular, tying in to the harness from the non JBL amp. It’s actually very conveniently located.

Budget will also play a role and I want to keep it under $800.

 

I want to say he had a sundown audio package around that price. With the Non-JBL system it is a really simple removal of factory amp under the front passenger seat, plug in the new harness, attach new amp to rack. Just know that if you are planning on keeping the factory head unit you will need a digital sound processor to clean up the signal if you want it to sound the best it can. I installed my system with just the line out connection and knew immediately I had to clean it up.

 

Aha! Perfect! That’s exactly what I thought would happen! Thank you. I will wait and see when I talk to him and then continue on with my research to find the right DSP.

I been pulling the tiny hairs that are left on my bald head about this JBL "premium" upgrade I want to do. I can not STAND the JBL system in my truck. It really sucks. I can have a conversation with my wife on max volume!! I have a lot of mom and pop shops in my area but really afraid to have any one of them rip apart my 5 month old truck. I had a rep from Crutchfield put together a cart for me but one thing he told me to get was the PAC AmpPRO Amp replacement Interface which now i'm unsure of. I dont want to replace the JBL HU and dont want to rip it out of the dash to stick this AmpPRO behind it. I also heard that if you keep the factory amp and feed off that with another amp, you will get a hissing sound? Then I read about this Maestro thing which can replace the factory amp and install a new amp maybe? I do not know anything about car audio and I'm sorry. I wish I did because I would do everything myself since I have OCD with everything I own. One installer was telling me that he can rip out the factory amp and just install the speakers that I want in the doors and splice the new amp into the factory wiring which I do NOT want. I read about Taco Tunes and Tech12, the thing is, I have a $500.00 gift card I can apply to Crutchfield and my Wife would kill me if I was to spend $1500.00 on a new system because that would be cash I could spend on her...LOL!!! Can I just do with new speakers in the doors, and new amp (rip out the stock amp) and use the Meastro? Also keep the factory sub? I want nice highs, Bass and double the volume. The BT audio and phone is coming from the center speaker in the dash and also the front door speakers so def. want to keep that as well. Thats what I think the Meastro is for? Not really sure and any advice would be of great help. I have the JBL Premium with the JBL HU and 12 speakers including sub.
