I recently installed a TRD rear sway bar, and I'm now thinking of designing a quick disconnect at the link(s) for off road use. The Powerwagon has a slick electric d/c for the front sway bar, so my idea will be more like the Fred Flintstone model, but it will work. Stay tuned. What do you think? Would you use a d/c if available?

Remember the JKUs have the sway bar disconnects as well, if you are looking for parts ;)

I'd use it if it was available (at the links). It'd also be great if someone found a way to relocate the rear sway bar so it doesn't drop below the axle. :D

I've never looked into a QD for a sway bar but would definitely be interested. I tow 5 different trailers up to 10,000 lbs + and run off-road as much as I do on the Hwy so this would be something very useful to me. I've got Firestone airbags that work great for me because I keep them empty until I need them for towing.

Is the quick disconnect really worth how much articulation/travel you can get?
Assuming It will only be so much depending the travel of the shocks. Just wondering don't take it the wrong way.
Pulling off my front sway off my Tacoma bc bushings are worn and see what kind of difference I will see when I take it out wheeling.

I like facts/numbers. Would be good to see what the numbers are droop and compression before and after.

I looked at rotating mine but the axle housing has two flat sides, and the u-bolt is squared off too...can't it rotate up.
The new Nissan Titan XD has the rear sway bar rotated from the factory for clearance. Someone at Nissan was thinking outside the fortune cookie!

This is what one Jeep guy found out from the stiffest setting to nothing installed. Not really a big deal.

Despite the added control, the Antirock does allow a surprising amount of articulation. In one rockcrawler.com article the author quantifies the difference between fully disconnecting the swaybar and running the Anti-rock:
    • 33.25" fully disconnected (20* RTI = 1050)
    • 32.00" loosest Anti-rock setting (20* RTI = 1011)
    • 31.25" firmest Anti-rock setting (20* RTI = 987)

    Great info.
Question would be once disconnected end link can be prone to getting snagged causing damage?
Rear I don't think much would, but as far as a front disconnect I would worry about cv damage or anything else/ especially moving parts.

Good question. In this image, the chrome studs are what the disconnect rests on and pinned (if some assclown doesn't steal them).

This is how they look when off-road:

I bet they are, much like anything else.

Not sure I would take a bat to the knees or a .45 ACP for those though. Never mind, there are dumbasses everywhere.

I know this is an old thread, but will those JKUs work with our tundras front sway bar? Strength and fitment wise. 3rd gen. I like having my swaybar on while on road and would like to have it off while wheeling. I never leave the truck unattended where I don’t have an eye on it somehow. Or is there a company who finally made some for our trucks since it’s been 3 years?
