It was a great trip! just to short.. and we really did mob most of it! we stopped and looked and just kept mobbing... wish we could have slowed down some but it is what it is. Utah has so much to offer i wanna go back!
Once i got back i had to turn right back around and head to my boat. I have an Ericson 37 Flush deck sail boat that was in some mad need of attention, so two days after getting home i went to my boat which is about an hour away from my home, in the SF bay, we had a date to take it out and put it on the Hard for about a week.. things didnt go as planned and we ended up being two day late due to some complications with my yanmar water pump. I decided to re wire a ton of lights, convert the mast lights to LED, and just give the boat some sprucing up mechanically before we took it out of the water. The marina we take it out of the water is a good 4-5hr sail away from my marina, so it had to be semi sea worthy. Since i got married 2.5 years ago i haven't touched the boat. so it was definitely needing some love..

here i am cleaning the injectors and putting in new crush washers and changing the oil on the little Yanmar..

had to sail under the Bay Bridge to get to Berkley..



always amazed by the power of these cranes and how they pull boats out..
the worst day of owning a sail boat is the day you have to sand the bottom..

all sanded up and ready for new paint. we also decided to do the gunnel rail as well as the stern and boot stripe.
Since i got the boat over 3-4 years ago i never named it... since i didnt use it much i could never figure out what to name it.. turns out the original name of the Boat was Tonic so I decided to name it #tonic, because why not... I sold half the boat to a good friend of mine so he wanted to keep it OG and i wanted to keep it young so thats why the abnormal name as well as the good looking paint job... this isnt my first sail boat or sailboat paint job.. Its a ton of work but was well worth it! now i feel like i own a sail boat again..

I can totally relate to having to go to the masthead. Here's one I took in San Carlos Mex. from the masthead at sunset. I went up just to inspect things before delivering this Morgan 43 from San Carlos to Santa Cruz.

 

Looks like a great trip. Hopefully the wife and I can convince some friends to tag along with us on a trip like that soon.

Also, what app are you running on the iPad, or that you used to track the trip?

Lovin the ride man! Don't see that many overland builds on 1st gen DC's. I can't tell from the pics, but did you put longer axles or spacers on the rear to match the front?

 

No the rear axle is stock, i don’t have any spacers or anything. the front has wider axles that come with the Lontravel kit.Pro

yeah there isnt a part on this truck i haven’t touched.. its crazy.. but it comes and goes as far as what he wants done.. finally getting him to go use the thing.Pro

 

Finally with the shop completely empty.. i have a day to my self to finally pull the shocks apart on my tundra.. messing with the valving.. going to stiffen up the faster shaft speeds and soften up the slower stuff a tad.. Pro

 

Well i deceided to start the SUA conversion on The Couch. Thease are a Deaver pack with extra spring rate added to them for junk in the trunk.
I haven’t done anything for shocks yet. I will be doing a bed cage, with some 16in ADS double bypass shocks. I am not happy with the height, so i will be making some hangers that drop the pivit 1.5 inches and go back 1.5 inches. This will allow for less spring separation at droop.
Its sorta hodge podged togther right now.. but i am ordering new spring plates as well making the new hangers and shackles as well as getting stuff powder coated.

I am just getting back into the swing of things. I had to step down the size of my shop.
and reorganize some tools and such. But new shop setup should work well and i am stoked.

I use Brooke at Grizzely Powder coating here in santa cruz. She is great.

 

Since i didnt like the ride height after doing sua, i decided to have my buddy design me some new hangers that move the pivots back 1.5 inches and down 1.5 to gane back my height..

Sorry for the lack of replys guys, life has gotten the better half of me. wife needed surgery, work got busy. Still no internet at the house.
Had to sell our third vehicle so now the couch has DD duties. I also started taking some solid works classes at the beginning of the year, to help with a few designs i have rolling around in my head. And partially because Warren kept bugging me about a few parts. Thank you Warren! I will def keep Updating this when i get a chance. Hopefully Internet is in the near future.

 

I've got projects when you get time.

 

Can you post some more pictures of that rear bumper and bed rack setup? Really considering re-creating it. Looks so good!

 

I don't have that bumper any more. I just made a new one.
and the rack is just a simple rack i made in a couple hours. its just angle iron and 1in tubing. I made it several years ago.
Were are you located? if you want id sell you this one.....

I have Been MIA, but i haven't been really... Since i still don't have Internet at my home, due to location and Corporate America sucking balls, I went out and purchased a very nice gaming laptop, so i can take my work with me...My IT business has been keeping me swamped so now i can bring my designs with me where ever i go...
I have been swamped with work, Either IT, or Fab work, I have been doing special Pedestals for an Engineering Firm in the city that pays great so i make those priority to all truck stuff.
I guess i haven't updated since before the Overland Expo west. But I worked a ton on 4 trucks that went to the show... two of which were actually in the show, on display so that was awesome...
Brutus was the most noteworthy thing, I built and fabbed the ladder/light rack for the LMTV truck that Adventure Driven had at the show....pretty awesome rig!!!

I will now be a an Action Trax dealer, as well as KC highlights and a Locked Offroad Dealer.

I have been working a ton with solid works lately trying to perfect some designs i have had in my head.
I am working on right now perfecting the Tundra ARB mount, along with a 04-06 Double Cab roof rack. That should see daylight within a few weeks... Its my top priority with trucks, along with the ARB mount...

 

Definitely interested in the roof rack! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
