Just got my Tundra and looking at Tool Box options. Please post a picture of your tool box (no sexual innuendos intended) with the brand and model if you know it and about how much it cost you. I couldn't find any similar threads so I started this one.

I don’t have one yet but weathergaurd makes some nice toolboxes.

 

Which ones are you looking at in particular? Photos or links?

I like the low pro versions. More astheticslly pleasing to me and you can maintain visibility out of the back window. You can also get the chest type that are flush with the bed rail, but they don’t allow you slide stuff underneath like a ladder or sheet goods.

 

Zdog tool chest. Only had these pictures so I included a stock photo from online. But I love it. Sits below rack system amd isnt noticeable, also could add topper or tonneau cover as well. Only thing I don't like is no way to secure other than drilling holes in the bottom and using bed bolts to secure. Water tight so far.

 

I like both of those, but wish they were deeper, but not totally to the bottom of the bed, so you can still slide plywood and such under it. I'd like 6" of clearance under it, I think.

 

They make them in deeper models too.

 

I like the notch in it so you can slide your materials up into the notch and not have to tie them down in the front, just from the back.

 

I kinda want this one. Tool box dog box all in one.

I'm thinking of a box as well. Kinda like that first one you posted. I want a low profile type.

 

Weatherguard boxes are definitely the premium choice in both quality and price. They’re weatherproof and extremely durable. If I worked construction or did some other thing where I’d be putting the box to the test on a regular basis, Weatherguard would be my first choice.

However, if you’re like me and aren’t using the toolbox commercially, you can’t beat the UWS boxes. Mine is a black diamond plate UWS. It has quality welds, it’s water tight, and it has a foam filled lid with a 300 lb. weight capacity, which means you can sit/stand on it. At around $400, you’ll pay a little more for it than the generic $150-$200 boxes (Tractor Supply, Kobalt, etc, most of which are cheap boxes made by DeeZee), but it’s well worth the money, and still cheaper than the $800 Weatherguard. I’ve had mine for 5 or 6 years and three different trucks, and it’s still good as new.

 

I've put uws toolboxes on all my trucks. I've got the same one as you now.

I am really enjoying it so far. FYI to those that are interested it is simply a chest, no shelf or sliding drawer.

 

Don’t have a pic off hand, but I like my cheap Tractor Supply box. Wasn’t wanting to spend the $800 bucks on a Weatherguard, even though their level of quality is undeniable.

 

Great thread. Also looking for a box to replace the space I had behind my rear seat of my 2012 Crewmax. The 2018 Crewmax I now own left me without a place to store my tool bag, straps, levels, etc.

 

Got a narrow one from Walmart a few months ago. less than 100$. Big enough to hold all my recovery equipment and the basic tools. Also keep a little bit of detailing stuff in it ( mostly window cleaner and emergency cleanup stuff)

 

If your wallet allows get the weather guard. The one on my other truck is 8 years old and opens and closes great. I was trying to save a few bucks and looked at buyers and the Home Depot specials and said to myself when buying tools “ buy once, cry once”. Couldn’t be any happier

 

Nice long bed! Can i ask what model # tool box that is? Is there room under it to haul a stack of plywood? How much room from the bottom of tool box to the bed floor? I agree buy once cry once!

The problem with the aluminum tool boxes is that they can be pulled open by hand easily. I had a work truck with the last company I worked for and the boss wouldn't let me buy a steel Jobox. After the third aluminum box was yanked open and thousands of dollars of tools were stolen right out of a hotel parking lot, He let me buy one. Didn't get broken into again as it would have taken time effort, and made some noise.

 

New to the forums and tundra life. Just traded off my ram 2500 megacab. I got this box today from tractor supply. It's a better built with the top rails. Really like to "trail" look to it.

 

Can't really tell, but are those TRD Pro rims? If not, what are they?

 

They look like the TSS wheels. It's a regional thing. Texas for sure but not sure about other southern states.

 

Thats such a nice setup. A place for everything. To bad my people can barely roll the cords up on the saws. I can go grab 6 circle saws right now and not a single one has the original cord...
