Originally, I read about taco tunes and decided to order some equipment from them to build an audio setup. Listed are the parts currently installed in the truck (17 non-JBL truck)

    -********* Recurve
-Image dynamics CXS64v2 for the front (passive)
-Image dynamics CTS65 for the rears (passive)
    -1 JL Audio CS110TG-TW3 Sub
    -********* door adaptors
    -Fatmat sound deadening in doors
-JL Audio XD1000/5v2 powering all of it

I've tried tweaking this set up as much as I can. With or without stock dash speakers, Nothing seems to provide the perceived loudness or front stage that I desire. I've now decided to change pretty much everything. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I've started gathering the parts for the new setup. Let me know what you think.

First off, the dash speakers (sides). I know the originals are 2.5 speakers but I would like to have 3.5". Cutting the OD for the speaker is a non issue but however the depth of a speaker is. It runs into a defrost duct and I would rather not cut a defrost duct. You basically have 1.5 inches of depth to work with. So I found the HERTZ DCX 87.3. 30 watts RMS and a wide frequency range. It's mounting depth is 1.3 inches.

    The complete parts list....

    Amps
Arc audio KS300.4 (Front doors ACTIVE)
Arc Audio XDI 450.4 (Rear Passive and 30w to dash speakers)
    Arc Audio KS1000.1 (Subs)

    Speakers
    CXS64v2 active in front doors
    CTS65 passive in rear doors
Hertz DCX 87.3 active in dash
    CS110TG-TW3 x2 I ordered another sub

    DSP
    Audiocontrol DM-810

I have yet to start the install but I'm hoping to have time sometime soon.

    Welcome!

Are you running the factory head unit?

I would try to see how it sounds without the dash speakers. Just run some tweeters in the sail panels, or down by your mids. I found that my setup sounded 100000x better without the tweeters in the dash.

I am doing everything I can to keep the factory radio. I like it's features and integration. That's why I bought such a nice DSP. I believe the factory radio does output a full range signal that I should be able to make flat and adjust in the dsp to get the best sound.

I'm going to run an active 3 way setup in the front with time alignment. I've noticed with the dash speakers you can create a much larger sound stage "in front of you" rather than just music playing from the doors.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. I'll be interested in watching the progress.

I've never ran an active setup before or even touched a DSP. It will be a learning process.

Does the dsp you are going to use have a automatic correction to flatten the signal (like the Fix86)? Or will you have to use a RTA to manually adjust it?

The Dm-810 has a built in RTA on the input and output. It does have a auto EQ feature in the software also. I will only be sending the flat full range signal to the rear doors though.

My initial frequency signals should go as follows...

    Subs = 80hz and below
Front door mid bass = 80-500hz
Dash speakers mid range = 500-4khz
    sail panel tweeter = 4khz-20khz
rear door = full range passive system

I will probably change these some and mess around with the slope type to blend the system as best as I can by ear.

The front door woofers and tweeters will be powered by 90w rms separately (180w rms to each door) although the dash speakers will only have 30w rms powering them. I have a few things working in my favor though. The door speakers are at 90db sensitivity whereas the dash speakers are at a 93db sensitivity (twice as loud) and running a small frequency range so the 30w should be pretty explosive. I think I shouldn't have much trouble blending as perceived loudness should workout to be about the same. Time alignment is going to my biggest issue being as i'm bouncing off the windshield.

The AC processor has a neat feature that continues to re-adjust the EQ curve and Time Alignment as you continue to run it, fine tuning the setup for you.
I would recommend using minimum gain on the rear fill, it CAN(not will) pull the sound behind you and mess up the processors auto tune functions.
There is a shop in Arlington(Mobile Sound Solutions) that has a Mercedes Benz SUV that utilizes the Audio Control amps and processor and it sounds really nice.
    Good Luck

    Update:

Sorry for the lack of updates but I finally got around to finishing the install. I ended up not using the Hertz speakers in the dash. I replaced them with Audison Voce AV3.0 and holy cow. The front 3 way active sound stage will blow you away. When a snare drum pops you can feel it in your chest. Anyone interested in a ********* recurve unit? lol

So I take it you kept the CXS64v2 in the front doors and CTS65 in the rear doors ... you are happy with these?
