Why am I getting such poor mileage

I didn't buy the truck to care about MPGs but reading from others on here it makes me wonder. I have a 2015 1794 and am constantly getting ~11 to 11.5 on my dash. I know going by the dash is not the most accurate, but its pretty consistent. I dont have a lead foot and drive it like a grandma. My truck has 14.5k miles on it. Is it maybe due to the truck not having enough miles? Am also planning on doing 18" NVs with 275-70-18 KO2s.

 

Seems low. I get about 13 MPGs with 35s and 3" lift. Drive like a middle age lady (not grand kids yet).

 

My 2015 CM Limited has 11k miles on stock tires and I'm getting around 15 MPG mixed hwy/city so it's not a mileage thing. I usually drive like a normal person but occasionally drive like I stole it.

 

I wish I could get my dash to read 11-11.5 mpg's. I can't seem to break 9.5

 

On 35's here, 11-13

 

what is your commute?

around town with 35's and a king bolt on c/o i only get around 10-11.. my normal commute is 85% freeway and i average around 15

 

90% city driving with the wife being the primary driver we are getting 10.9

 

Do you idle your truck a lot? This will rape your mpg avg.

I avg 12.3mpg with 3”/35”

I drive mostly city, and occasionally highway. Is there any difference in weight with the stock 1794 wheels and stock SR5 wheels perhaps? As I said, I have plans to put bigger tires, and also level it with Bilsteins all around. Maybe the SR5 or smaller wheels are lighter in weight, therefore the differences? I should just take Basskrazee's advise though and just enjoy the truck.

I get 10.5 on mine consistently with 295/70/18’s. I idle my truck every once in a while so I assume that brings the average down some.

 

Mine said 14.9 last time I looked about 6 months ago.

 

I have a stock 2016 CM and average about 16.5 mpg running on 87 octane. My numbers are based off math done when I fill up and not the worthless computer. I usually get about 475 to 505 miles out of a tank and I can only get 30 gallons at most on fill up in my 38 gallon tank.

 

it does make a difference, but it wouldnt be more than 1-2 mpg.. how do you accelerate? if you're constantly going 3-4k rpm off red lights that will definitely make your mileage ~10. if you stay under 2k around town with easy acceleration but no freeway maybe 13? lol

its easier to just ignore it and accept you have a big ass v8 and a heavy ass truck

 

Over the last 4000 miles or so I'm at 17.1, will drop to 17.0 with some idling and slow dirt road crawling. I'm stock for now. Within that there are 20 or so 3 hour highway trips. Was running low 16s, until I changed all the diff and transfer fluids and coming out of winter (winter gas) it jumped right up to 17.

 

TRD PRO with 15K miles here average 13.5-15 MPG city driving (mixed), 17.8 MPG when 100% of my miles are highway driving. My truck is stock (2” lift at front, stock Michellin tires) I have a Undercover FLEX tonneau bed cover so that probably help a little.

 

2017 CM 5.7FFV W/ tow package SR5 w/ upgrade (38 gal tank) with TSS off road package (20” rims with beefy tires, not sure what size & nurf bars) and backflip trifold tonneau cover

I usually get around 15mpg with mixed city highway according to the computer, 14.5 according to the pump. Some idling, but not a ton. Last fill up the computer said 13.5 or so... but I was doing a crap ton of idling waiting for wife to run errands with the kids in the car.

 

I have averaged 13.19 over the last 36k miles with stock lift/tires. I just upgraded to 275/70 KO2s so I expect it'll drop slightly. I don't drive very easy. 2016 CM

 

I drive about 65 miles round trip to work daily. Mostly on Interstate and I am getting 18 mpg. No lift, stock tires. I will say however since I have had my truck that just turned 1,000 miles that I have never had the engine over 2500rpm’s. Trying to break the engine in right. Not sure if that break in period is a myth or not but figured it couldn’t hurt to baby it for the first thousand or so miles.

 

Got a stock 2015 CM get around 13.2 mostly city driving. It really does surprise me how some guys get these good MPGs even lifted and bigger tires.

I get 12.5 average, with my 5.7 with 295's and I have a heavy foot plus my A/C is on all the time so I'm ok with that!

Usually the MGM's get worse mileage because of the metallic in the paint!

 

Good point.. my A/C is running all the time now too.. probably worth 0.5-1mpg to me based on what I was getting during winter.

Another thing I forgot to mention is I live on fairly flat land. we've got some hills, but nothing I couldnt comfortably ride my bicycle over in my youth... (not sure about now.. I dont have a bicycle)

 

Yall with 35 inch tires need the in line calibrator frim hypertech. You'll catch about 5 more mpg and normal shift points. Trust me

 

After reading a lot of the above comments I am happy to say I am getting 17.9 MPG with mixed 4hr highway weekend drives and daily city commute in the downtown of a big city. Driving a stock 2018 TRD Off Road with 4800km on it. Also driving like a grandmother trying to milk every last cent out of the tank lol.

 

I've got a stock 15 cm with a tonneau cover and trd exhaust. I could never get above 12.5 combined no matter how I drove. About a year after I got it, I put the pop a lock and the bed lights. I disconnected the battery. Since I was hanging out with family, it took me about 4 hours if not more before I connected it again. After that, all of the sudden, I was getting 14.5-15 combined. I've been getting that since on the computer and hand calculated with about .5 difference.

 

$3.77 a gallon!!!!! Where do you live??

 

I got 17.5 on 2015 DC with 4.6 engine. Trying to see if I can hit 19mpg for the fun of it
