Got my Tundra sprayed at Line-X, and they affixed that ugly yellow warranty tag onto the bed itself.

Has anyone successfully removed this thing without damaging the Line-X ? What was your technique? Hairdryer + goo-gone? Yank off with pliers..?

I took mine off right after I got my truck back from line-x place. The glue behind that yellow tag was still fresh so it was easy off.

So they let the Line-X dry first, then glue the tag on? Did it damage the Line-X at all?

Yup that’s what it looked like. No didn’t do any damage. The only thing is that when I remove the yellow tag the glue was still fresh so I wiped it with a rag, some glue was still left on.
But at least it looks better than with that yellow tag.

Have you tried using goo-gone to get rid of that glue residue?

@tundrathr0w well I did my best to get it off with goo gone, and this is the best I could do.

It’s little bit noticeable but I’m ok with that. Looks better that before.

I've also heard people have success with a heat gun or hairdryer to get the residue off.

Yes I’ve heard that too. For me that’s been on for 3 years lol, and it’s the first time I try to take it off.

I don’t mind having it on. It’s not yellow though. Plus I want to give props to the great job they did and how good it looks. I have the premium with UV protection. Looks shiny. My previous tundra had the factory spray on liner and looked very dull when the truck was brand new 6C2BB92B-AACC-41EC-ABA5-379F5438D2FC.jpg

That one doesn’t look bad imo! But I wasn’t a fan of the yellow one.

Some shops will refuse to honor that request, claiming that it'll void warranty work. I think that's nonsense, but it's a lot easier to just not bring it up, then remove it right after they spray it.

Line-x told me my vin is setup for the warranty. If issues rise later they use my vin to look up warranty

Right, that's the way it should be. Some shops still insist on sticking on the tag cuz they want free advertising.

I pulled my yellow one off about 2 weeks after I had the bed sprayed. It came right off and I didn’t see any residue. I have the tag in my glove box now. I will stick it back on with some big league chew if I ever need to show up at the shop for a warranty issue.

I would have freaked if it did when I pulled it off. I frankly can’t remember where it was now, so I guess that answers the question!

There was only a small dot of urethane adhesive behind it though - so maybe that is why it was easy. Not sure what would happen if the whole badge edge to edge was glued

The people who did mine applied the badge using polyurethane unfortunately. I was able to get it off with dental floss when I got home but the polyurethane is there forever as far as I can tell. It really pisses me off.

I bet they could sand it down and just re-spray that area in a few minutes. I’d let them know you were unhappy about it and it touched up.

I talked to the owner about it and he said it was for warranty claims and Line-X asks them to put it there. He acted shocked that I had removed it as if no one had ever done it before. I've been working on it, whittling it down... Found a good looking emblem I'm going to put over top of this mar.
