Trust me I was freaking out. I got that sick to my stomach feeling, right before that feeling where I wanted to do something that might’ve gotten me arrested.

I am terrified of this... like most of us on here I have a very discerning eye. My biggest fear is that when this whole thing is over I’ll notice something slightly off. That would send my OCD into overdrive. I’ve already thought that of that is the case it might be good enough reason to justify rolling this into a 19, maybe even a PRO... even if with the loss I would take. All that though I’m holding out hope that when I pick it up it will look just like the day I drove it home- WHICH WAS 2 WEEKS AGO!!!!! The estimates from both body shops have a significant amount of blending and one is basically painting the whole side of the truck from bed to front quarter panel. I figure that should be enough to make it disappear.

Look it over before you drive it off after repair. Make sure it looks 100% back to how it rolled out of the factory. That’s what insurance is paying for if I’m not mistaken.

His insurance.... You guys are giving me hope... (I think). I was devastated yesterday. I just want it to be back to normal.

another question though- I am assuming this will go on a carfax, and affect the value of the vehicle moving forward. 1- How can I prevent that (if even possible), 2- How much do you think damage like this, cosmetic, non-structural, will de-value the truck?

Steve u are correct, once it goes thru insurance it will show on carfax. There's no preventing it. The only thing u can do is try to get insurance to compensate you for the depreciated value. Maybe put a mod on ur truck on their dime, might make u feel better about the whole thing. U want to tell the insurance co u want them to cover for the difference of what ur truck was worth before the accident compared to now. Tell them u want them to cover that difference or u will have to put in a diminished value claim and take them to court. Hopefully they can send u a check for that difference and get a mod on them. It's a real thing and it works, good luck. U prob gonna have to fight for it though. Threaten taking to court and they may just pay up a little extra besides just fixing.

Ugh... that sucks... my heart sank for you as I read your post... at least the guy is owning up to it and doing the right thing so far...
honestly, if I were buying your used truck down the road and I saw the car fax, you showed me pictures of what it was... I’d be like , meh... that’s just cosmetic.. no big deal... I wouldn’t expect a drop in price / value...
I’m not trying to diminish how you feel or how I would feel if that were my two week old truck... just saying I’d buy your used truck over one that had a front fender caved in...
good luck, Steve! Keep us posted on how things go!

I saw @obz build thread and really liked his bed decal. I went ahead and contacted CBoy808 at Tacomaworld

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/custom-made-vinyl-stickers-bedsides-made-in-hawaii.281228/

The first set I got...well I didn't take my time and blew both of them. Ordered another set (and he gave me a spare this time :) ) and went very slowly and had my son give me a hand. I'm not sure how the larger hood decals go on so well. For me...this was a PITA, but I really like how they turned out.

Had my end caps bullet lined. Now to find a weekend with no homework, baseball games, or rain to get them installed. They have a nice gloss to them that I haven’t seen with other liner products.

Spent Saturday doing a FULL detail of my daughter's Silverado ( married into it). Was just unkept from the top down. Stained seats, headliner, never seen wax, had to clay bar it. The works. THEN, got to wash and wax the tundra. Told her that keeping up with the detailing makes it easier every other week. Waiting four years to detail is not the way it's done. Showed her some easy tricks and now that she's interested in keeping up with it, I'm going to have to up my detailing game and invest it some better products and equipment. ( She also stated when the chevy dies, it's Tundra time)

2 down...3 to go. Front doors will be this week and rear sub and wall this weekend.

For those of you that do this for a living... I commend you. My fingers are numb and cut and I still have so much more to go. It is full filling though. Granted... the speakers are just wired...to nothing. Still have to do amp and head unit.

On my Tacoma I did this (OEM audio+ install). The mistake I did on that truck was doing the entire truck in two days. After that episode, I didn't want to touch my truck for months.

This time, I'm doing a door a day (I did the passenger side yesterday and driver side today).

I used RAAMaudio for the sound deadening. I did this on the Tacoma and it's easy to work with and I was very happy with the results.

    The package is here: http://www.raamaudio.com/package-1-...s-ofensolite-iuo-peel-and-stick-41-625-sq-ft/

I may need just a bit more for the rear wall. I did the inner doors behind the speakers and most of the door skin (as seen in pics).

Also using new 14 AWG wire and let me tell you what a joy it is drilling through the plastic plug in the B pillar.

    Stock rear door.

For those of you that are wanting to do this, notice the indentation in the blue vapor barrier below the wire to the right of the speaker... more on that later.

Notice to the right of the speaker below the wire. The sound deadening is way more taunt than the vapor barrier blue plastic. Ask me why this matters....

    IMG_1405.jpg

Because the stock yellow foam intrudes into that blue vapor barrier plastic, but can't push the matt and Ensolite. Of course the door pull and lock cable, plus wire harness are already connected....yet the door panel won't go on....

Yanking everything back off you need to shave that yellow foam down.

Now a look at drilling a hole in the B-pillar wire harness. This was a lot of fun as well.

    Another angle

And then you have to snake it through the grommet...

Tie wrap it to the factory wiring and you are done...

I used ********* Image Dynamic rear coax speakers and speaker mounts. They worked great. I'm also using their front speaker mounts (but not their speakers) and rear sub box and woofer.

Like I said before...for those of you that do this for a living...wow. You have some skill and patience. I'm hoping my front doors go relatively smoothly.
