Hey guys, I'm Jason and this is my first Tundra. I picked up a 2018 Crew Max SR5 and I was looking to add some nice wheels and tires to it without lifting it. I really like the XD Grenade 820 in the 18inch size with a 18mm off set and the Cooper STT Pro (285/65/r18). I'm worried about it rubbing, any thoughts or advise would be greatly appreciated

    Welcome to the forum.

18 mm offset wheels (18x9) with 285/65/18 tires should not rub at all. 285/65/18 is only about 1/2 inch taller than stock 275/65/18. Another tire size option to consider is 275/70/18. That's actually 1/2 inch taller than the size you were looking at. Somehow, tires at this size is somewhat cheaper than 285s.

    Welcome from Washington.

Currently running similar set up. 285/65/18 w +20 offset. I had to remove the mud flap in front of the front tire. Other than that no rubbing. I have heard the stt pros run taller than most 285/65 d/t aggressive tread. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Yes, still stock. Haven't saved enough for suspension. Bought wheels and tires. By the time these tires are ready to be replaced I will upgrade suspension and tires.

I ran that exact wheel size, width, offset with same size tire but Nitto trails. 0 rub. Stock suspension.

Now my dad is running that exact setup on his stock 2008 2wd:

285/65-18x9 +18 thanks that is my old mans truck. I do like how these trucks sit with that setup on stock suspension

I tried to find some old pics of that setup on my truck to give you an idea of how 285/65 on 18x9 +18 looks on truck without flares... best I could come up with:

Quick update. I had to remove all the front mud guards and the factory front wheel liners to eliminate the rubbing issue. Now I need to find a thin mud guard

Those wheels look great with the cement color. You may be able to keep the front liner after removing the front mub flap. There are several bolts under the bumper that hold the liner in place. I was able to remove the inner bolt, push the liner forward about an inch, and then drill a new hold in the liner to hold it in place.

Do you have a shot of it from the front? I was wondering how much they'll stick out with the 18+ offset. I'm looking at getting these in flat black.

Please post pictures when you do. The Grenades are bad ass wheels. I didn't want to do the lift since it interferes with the sensing system for the 2018 model and the dealer will void the warranty. So this worked best

This thread is the thread I was looking for! Just joined after a frustrating week of searching and not finding the right answers.

I got a 2008 Tundra DC 5.7 RWD 2 years ago and need to get new tires and since I had steelies on them, figured I try and find some upgraded wheels on CL in good condition.

I located one that is an 18x9 with a +20 offset and was confused on what type of tire could be used with minimal alterations. It seemed like most trucks had lifts and I don't have the extra dollars for a lift and new wheels/tires.

It seems like 285-65-18 or 275-70-18 could work? I sort of prefer the wider thread tire, but will check out prices for both!

Is 275-65-18 going too small and thin?

I look forward to learning more on the forum!
