I mainly used Mobil 1 fully synthetic in my Tacoma. I have the initial maintenance plan on my Tundra now, so I have some time before I need to worry about oil changes. I will most likely go with Mobil 1 and Toyota filter when I do my oil changes.

I used to use all Mobil 1 products until I read Chris' filter review on TW.

I too have the toyota plan but when that goes I will most likely use Mobil 1 full synthetic with Toyota filter as well.

Mobil 1 full synthetic and a Toyota filter.

    Many!
If the Tundra's OEM filters are like the Tacoma's then the OEM filters are definitely the way to go! I was running Mobile 1 in mine but I recently switched all my fluids to Redline and stepped up to 10W-40. I did this because my Tacoma sees the rev limiter frequently and I abuse the hell out of it offroad and Redline is supposed to be a better oil in regards to that. Costs a lot more though!

Are you guys getting your filters right from a dealer or saving money and finding them online? Getting ready for my first oil change in the truck. Looks like I'll take your advice and use the mobile1 0–20

I get my filters thru an online Toyota dealer. My local dealer won't deal, straight retail.

I use Royal Purple 5W-30 and Napa Gold filters, I want to go back with Toyota filters bad. I see a lot of Mobil 1 users, are there any perks to using Mobil 1 vs Royal Purple?

    Metric shit ton of parts
Cheaper, readily available, and API SM certified.
RP uses higher amounts of zinc (for anti-wear) which exceeds the amount allowable by API SM/ILSAC GF-4 oils, which in turn degrade catalytic converters if oil is exposed to the cats (leaking valves, poor piston ring seal, etc). You can pick up Mobil 1 anywhere, even Costco for a damn good price. There's no reason to pay the RP premium.

I only use factory Toyota filters. Same filter fits my Tundra, Tacoma, and the wife's T4R. I buy them in 10 packs and they end up at $3 a pop

That's good to know, I have several filters left over from my Tacoma.

Free, when you buy a truck. One of the local Toyota dealers does free oil changes and state inspections for life. My daughter bought a Yaris from them and it's the first time she's ever kept up with either. Haven't had the first oil change yet, but I assume they use Toyota synthetic.

No Penzoil or other brands? Having said that, I am thinking of Amsoil when mine is due. Is it true, once you go full synthetic, you can't go back to conventional oil?

I run toyo filter and shell rotella synthetic
I've ran that in my race quad from day one and never had engine failure due to oil issues and I run it in all my cars. Works for me and reasonably priced
