Haha I certainly hope it doesn't create any paranoia!
With ECT on the shifting was at least a bit more responsive, but in my case, the issue could never be resolved. So I resolved it myself. :D

I can live without those features too (I currently am, lol!), I just found it odd that they chose to deprive us of them. I don't really consider most of those as fancy amenities (I'm not asking for a 360° camera and heated steering wheels and whatnot, I'd just like to be able to see out of the back glass on chilly or wet mornings). Hell, my F-150 was only an XLT, and it had every one of those features I listed, including an electronic locking rear diff! I still traded it for the Tundra though, and have never looked back. I'm just surprised the SR5 isn't shown a bit more love from the factory, is all. Especially with the TRD package. But hey, I'll just keep holding my window switches and smiling!

Y'all have had some nice Tacomas! I've always liked them, but I don't fit in them too well lol.

Tacoma has the new refresh, before the 3rd gen if you want to call it that the 2nd gen had none of those amenties. I have a 2012 Tacoma as well and I barely get better mpg then my Tundra and the taco has to run premium to which makes fill ups more costly. I talk to so many 3rd gen owners who dislike how they drive, I really hope Toyota doesn't botch the next gen Tundra's powertrain.

Yep, I've heard that. My friend with the '17 taco traded his 2007 for it, and he regrets it, even with all the features.

I don't want to make this thread too much of a Tacoma pile-on, but I have a good friend with a 2015 Tacoma on lease, and he's nearing the end. A month ago, while in for an oil change, he test drove a 2018 Tacoma with the same trim level (TRD Off Road). His response "I see now what you were talking about with the engine. It has no pick-up. It almost feels like a downgraded truck". Fast forward to last week, out of the blue he asks me "What do you know about Dodge RAM's? Seems like they have really good lease deals." He's been a Toyota guy for years. Needless to say, he's not enthusiastic about a new Tacoma (and I think the Tundras are out of price range).

They only way I have heard of guys liking them is with the manual trans, my Aunt just did the same thing a few months back as her 2015 Tacoma lease was up. She test drove the 3rd gen auto and manual, could not stand the auto, loved the truck in the manual but she's tows a travel trailer regularly and didn't want a manual. So off to Chevy she went and leased a Colorado.

Even though we talk about our experiences hearing from people who disliked it, the majority must not care because they sold like 21k Tacoma's last month...so either they got something right or the other choices are that bad.

I agree it be nice to have a package you can add on an SR5+ to add keyless entry and push button start so I can keep the key in my pocket. But you can add that aftermarket if you really want it... Tundras remote start is shit and I’ll probsbly replace that with one where I can get into the truck and put the key in without it shutting off when I unlock to load kids... but I don’t think keyless entry and push button start are a big deal now... it’s super hand with little ones, but I’ll just fumble with the keys a bit more :)

Don’t have anything to say about the tacos other than I’d have gotten one if I didn’t need all the room in the backseat... reading this makes me glad I didn’t really have the option...
