What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

That looks awesome! Did you add new upper control arms to avoid any alignment or wear/tear issues?

 

No everything else is stock.

I fucked up the threads on one of the sway bar end links. I need to pick up another one. Or just remove the front sway bar completely...... Not sure. Trying to find if anyone else is running no front sway bar

 

Today is LED reverse lights.

Up out of the way so they can't be seen unless you look for them. Will post a night shot tonight.

 

Just yank it and leave it off. I only ran the rear sway bar on my lifted 4th gen runner and didn’t notice too much added body roll but I also had much stiffer springs. If you don’t like the feel, get a new end link.

 

I have the TRD package 2002 4wd which has the front sway bar, but the sway bar links rusted off a few years ago so effectively I’ve been running with no sway bar. I’m gearing up to do a suspension redo such as yours very soon. Very interested in your outcomes. Let me know how you like running without your sway bar. Its been so long without mine I can’t remember the difference.

 

Does yours have a new frame? Thing looks pristine compared to mine! Bolts look all new.

 

It's the original frame.
I've been cleaning the whole truck. I have a week off so I'm doing all this now. I keep my vehicles very clean.
My car is the same way. Looks new for a 04

 

Being a California truck doesn’t hurt. Not a spec of rust on mine either.

 

Got some supplies from HD for a surprise project for my neighbor.

 

I just drove the truck 20 miles. Definitely has more body roll but not nad. I'm not hauling ass all over the place just cruising. Went on a dirt fire road and a few small bumpy parts.

The sway bar is coming off all the way. The truck feels great. So much smoother.

 

Sounds like a good choice. Now keep your eyes on the upper and lower ball joints once you get an alignment.

Thanks for the feedback. As mentioned prior my links rusted off and wasn’t sure exactly when it happened, but I did notice a few years ago my body roll was more pronounced while the ride seemed smoother going straight at speed. Those sway links are about $140 each from the stealership. Money saved.

 

50$ at AutoZone. But I don't think I'll be fixing it. I like the way it rides.
I'm worried about the sway bar moving around now because the end links are no longer connected.

Hopefully it will come right out after unbolting it. And I won't have to remove other items to get it out .

I like them for back up. And ( rock lights)
I had them on my tacoma two in front and two in back. Nice for at night in the parking lot or out in the sicks to have some light around the truck.

My favorite part is you can't see the lights. They are tucked up under neeth the truck..

 

So, very first post on this forum. I bought a 2000 Toyota Tundra AC 4x4 w/ 145k miles that had a twisted frame. Bought a new frame, swapped all the components over, replaced: suspension with Bilsteins 5100// seals, gaskets and timing belt// miscellaneous items, since the bed was separated from the frame and cab I decided to not only repaint but change the overall color from the greyish/gold/silver/purple to the new Cavalry Blue that is found on the Tacos and 4Runner.

Updated as of right now, we just finish painting it, tomorrow is all about reassembly. I will try and figure out how to post pictures and a write up of my build.

I am terrible at Forums and communication outside of email/phone so I will try and keep this going. AMA I'll do my best at replying!
