Nice looking pop-up, I get right about 15-16 towing my pop up as well. A liners are very nice campers, they make them near where my family lives up in PA.

I'm considering buying a 2018 Tundra SR5 Crewmax 5.7 4X4 with TRD Package this week. It says 1560 max payload 7200 GVWR and 9800 tow capacity. The trailer I'd like to pull with it is a 2018 Forest River Rockwood Ultra Lite 2703WS with a Hitch weight of 854 lbs Unloaded weight of 6900lbs Length of the box is is 27' 32.5' length with the tongue. Of course, I'd use a stability hitch weight distribution setup. From what I've read here the payload could still be too much for the Tundra once a few people are in the truck, with a full tank of gas and the dogs in the back. Anyone have thoughts on this? Should I find another truck to pull this trailer? Or, would I need airbags with this setup and maybe that would be enough to help? Thanks for any help you can offer.

After tongue weight you have about 600lbs remaining for payload. Add it all up and if you're over, you're over.

I would like to do some traveling, so I want a setup that will work for long distance. What would be the best weight distribution / stability setup? The dealer has one they could sell me for $350 but I'm thinking I'd like to buy the best. Doesn't this distribute a bit of the weight back to the trailer axle, giving me some more room for payload in the truck? It sounds to me like airbags will not help the situation, unless I have sag. Thanks for helping a newbie.

From personal experience Equalizer makes a great weight distribution hitch. People also say good things about Blue Ox. A properly setup WDH will shift some tongue weight back to the trailer. For me, with a trailer slightly lighter than yours, that gets me just under GVWR, not leaving room for much of any cargo in the truck.

Is that what the door says for payload or reading that off the net?

That a good sized camper. Wouldn’t be in Colorado are you?

What's your set up for flaps behind the Tundra, I need to get something like that for when I haul my open car trailer to keep any stones from kicking up.

Equalizer is great and I have also heard good things about Anderson as well. Both are USA made.

Hi guys, I've been a lurker here, and I've really enjoyed looking through the towing photos.

I bought a brand new 2017 Jayco X23F last Fall, which I towed home with my 2011 Tacoma. It towed fine (a little better than I expected, actually), but when a close friend decided to trade in his 2012 Tundra on a brand new truck, I bought it from him and sold the Tacoma. (It was almost an even swap!)

I took some photos of both of them together this morning, all loaded and ready to roll for our first trip. I'm using an e2 WDH and a P2 brake controller. I'm not sure if I am more excited to use the camper for the first time or to tow with the Tundra.

I'll most likely be hauling my FJ to places I haven't taken it before The Tundra will be a great backup vehicle in case I break the yellow truck somehow.
