    heres the scoop:

    -Dad had “indigestion”
-Next day, he has lower stomach pains
-Next day helps me toss 140 bales of pine straw
-Next day, goes to get more and decides he wants to check the abdominal pains with the doc
    -He’s ordered to ER
-ER orders “emergent” exploratory surgery cuz they found a perforation “somewhere” in the bowels
-“EMERGENT SURGERY” has been issued to another hospital that “is easier” to transfer records to than the requested hospital my mom was asking for
-7 hours later they claim they cannot transfer because the “easier” hospital had no room
-“then take him to the requested hospital”
-ER doc says, “it’s illegal now that he’s chosen the other one” (malpractice)
-my uncle, president of the GA surgical association, calls and “finds a room”
-17 hours after the “emergent” order was written he goes into surgery where the find seeping bial into the abdomen (potentially life threatening)
-small intestine was found to be ripped and infected, with seepage to be cleaned out!!!
-he’s good now, but it was Wednesday morning when he had the surgery, and here we are on Sunday with no discharge in sight!!!

This has been a real eye opener about hospitals and real fucking douchebaggery within the medical community, and how the money had everything to do with his life being threatened. Come to find out....it’s internal policy to keep all patients needing surgery from this local shithole until they can get them to the other one owned by Navicent!!!!

My dad is refusing to do so but this is a malpractice lawsuit open/shut before it ever makes it to a judge.

Has anyone else had this type of experience, or know someone with 10 inches of small intestine removed?

So sorry my friend. Same thing happened to my father in law. He got through it, long recovery, but it has definitely been a turning point. I’m glad you are there, he needs you. Healthcare is business, and shouldn’t be. My wife found me in a hospital hallway chair once after spine surgery. Nobody cared.

Yeah, the patient care side of things isn’t very impressive in many cases. We take the good ones for granted until the shit shows happen to us. Thanks for the words, Dave

Damn Girl, I’m sorry to hear about your Dads issues and how he was treated. The family will need you now more than ever.

I doubt this is malpractice. Did the hospital cause his issues? If not, it isn’t malpractice by definition.

The malpractice portion was where the lies that took place (that I vaguely mentioned) and breached the governing principles of patient care. There’s much more to the story that I’m not at liberty to voice at this time. Again, my dad’s not going to pursue it, but my uncle has already taken it to the Georgia board of medicine (whatever that’s called) and there will be action within the system. Under life threatening conditions a 17 hour delay due to some poor judgement on the shit hole rural Georgia hospital is inexcusable. Options were present. They chose not to expedite.
They might not have caused the condition, but they didn’t follow protocol, which could’ve led to death

There might be something to it, and probably a lot more to this than what has been discussed.

Your Uncle is doing the right thing. If there is something to change, they will figure it out.

Bad practice is bad practice, but a hospital know as “The Death Trap” needs something more than you or I can do

My parents live in a city in CO that have the same kind of rep. The city has just outgrown its hospital care and needs a lot of work.

I feel for you, tough spot to be in.

Ya know Chris....I felt the draw to come back here for some mysterical reasons, but I’ve been much more instrumental in a slew of situations that I can only attribute my misfortunes over the past couple years as His plan to get me back here where I can be of use to friends and family. Shit is finally coming into focus, and thanks for kicking me around when I got on soapboxes. What’s that country song by David’s lee murphy....”Everything’s Gonna Be alright”

I’m glad your back there. Amazing how things work out for a reason, and I’m sure in the long run this will somehow be a better for you.

Could you imagine if you were still in CO putting your head in fences? This would not be good and may have missed in the decision making to help your Dad out.

It could be worse...I’ve driven my moms 2018 Accord more than my truck :D
Guess what that means - it means it get her hand me down Lexus LS as my DD instead of embarking on another small loan for an Audi

Keep a close eye on your pops and let us know how he is doing.

I wasn’t there for my dads major issues (he didn’t let me know until the day he had surgery) and things didn’t go as well as expected.
