If anybody is interested in doing Sequoia in July, I need you to PM me. I'm starting to put together a list and we're going to limit this to 6 trucks. Most of the camp sites are limited in size. Also, let me know your preferred weekend. This will be a Thu - Sun trip, pick from 3 weekends:

    7/12-15

    7/19-22

    7/26-29

Sequoia is a GO. I have 5 confirmed. We have room for one or two more trucks. I'll start a trip thread once we pin down a weekend.

I take it that you are doing established camps, not Back-Country style?
I was thinking about going up there in July/August with the family but wanted to be a little more remote. If dates overlap, maybe I'll meet up w/ you guys for a day-run.

No we'll be doing backcountry camping. I haven't done solid route planning yet. One night will be monache meadows.

I'll check out those videos later tonight

    Yeah you do!

For those that don't know, Greg is building a badass LT Tundra. Cut the frame and shortened the wheelbase and everything

Only problem is he lives in in the east and has nowhere to wheel

Well we do have mountains and swamps and stuff but nothing like what you have out west and hey thanks for rubbing it in lol. I am motivated more than ever to get out there and do the kind of wheeling you guys do so I'm going to make it happen. I think the plan we talked about, me getting a place out there and leaving the rig is the route I'm going to go, at least for a few years.

I'm in Northern Virginia outside DC from Colorado originally. I've owned 4 x4's pretty much my entire life and even worked in a 4 drive wheel shop many years ago while going to school. Things were quite a bit different back then suspension wise. A lot of one off fab stuff that are kits now, winch cable for limiting straps etc..I broke the front axle in my first truck (a chevy) jumping it. I split the differential right in half. I was young and dumb and full of c**. I didn't even have a license yet but my Father helped me get the truck to work on. I still remember it like it was yesterday I was trying to impress some girls in the neighborhood so I took them wheeling. If catching a little air is fun catching a lot of air must be more fun right ? Anyway I'm sure you could imagine the phone call to my Father on that one, good times.

I have been out of it for a long time but miss it terribly. Now that I'm old and dumb and still full of c** I need to get back in to it.. Alex @osidepunker has been awesome giving me advise on the build, I can't Thank him enough and he introduced me to some folks that have helped as well. The truck is coming along slowly, the frame is all done and boxed, fiberglass is on, front and rear bumpers, @dirtydeeds exhaust. Suspension is next, waiting on my front shocks and rear springs to be built everything else is in hand. I will start a build log one day, I have been sending Alex @osidepunker picture updates occasionally maybe I will post something here.

There are some super cheap houses south and west of the Salton Sea. About an hour from my house. I'll house sit for you and wash your truck for free. I'll just need the keys... :D

I know right, I might have to get a dirt colored wrap for now lol. They wanted to paint the whole truck and I said umm noooo, first of all I can't afford it and second it's not going to stay nice very long.

shortening the frame is pretty straightforward. Cut frame, reattach, locate leaf pivots, shorten driveshaft. The hard part is properly measuring and locating everything.

A double cab 5.5' bed is my favorite type of wheelbase mod. A regular cab 5.5' bed would be dope as a SAS tube truck, but you wouldn't have room to carry much

Which part of the frame gets cut? Estimated- How much more does that wheel base get shortened?
I agree. Any DC shortbed is bad ass.
Regular cab tubed up would be dope to have. Cali Fab's tundra is coming together nicely, doved up in front.

I'm not sure which part they cut. I've been wondering that myself. Probably just a section between the front leaf hanger and the axle

Going from a 6.5 bed to a 5.5 bed you shorten the wheelbase by a foot. So the front leaf hanger should get moved forward by a foot.

    yeah that makes more sense.
I've seen bobbed beds on crawlers, linked up and such, just wondering if its the same concept for this situation.
