Just bought a 2016 work truck tundra. Doesn't have the power sliding rear window. Wonder if any of you guys know if it is possible to add the switch/motor/etc necessary to put it in....

Yea DC was not provided with rear window option to roll down. Only Crewmax. I know it’s possible but your going to put a lot of money and time into the change.

    Thanks for the quick response!
Thanks for the welcome from Texas, but that's where I'm from. I only leave to go on vacation, but I always come back. Can't understand why anyone would want to live anywhere else.

I love Texas. But if everyone had your feeling and moved to Texas, Texas would suck too. There’s a lot of people already getting on the bandwagon I hear and moving there, screwing up your state. Not going to make this political but it looks like Liberals are trying to take over.

    Oh, welcome! From California. :anonymous:

Welcome from Austin! I've got a 2016 work truck as well and thinking about replacing the rear window for a manual sliding window. Has anybody done anything similar to their truck?

Welcome...Their was a guy a few years back on a Tundra forum who did what your talking about. He cut out the rear section of a Crewmax cab (I think the front end was damaged in a wreck) and swapped it out with the rear of his DC. I remember it took him awhile with lots of modification. Your better option would be to add the power sliding rear window that the limited DC's have.

There was a guy on TacomaWorld that had modified the manual slider and hooked a motor up to it. You had to cut the plastic out behind the seat but you couldn’t see it from inside the truck. Had a harness with a switch in the dash. That would be cool to have on the Tundra. Maybe I would use that back window more then the three times I have in the last three years. Like an answer to all those cool crew max guys just rolling down their back windows.

    Still rocking the stock height.
    Welcome from San Antonio!
I wish my DC had a powered slider on the rear window. I might have to see about how they did it in some of the models.

I’m currently in the process of upgrading my manual slider to power on my 16 DC. I did quite a bit of research. My truck already had wiring for the switch behind the dash and relays in engine compartment fuse box. I just changed the passenger side wire harness to a limited harness that has the wiring for the window motor. It was plug n play, everything matched. All other parts to complete on order. I’ll advise how it goes.

It's interesting that a wiring harness is what they would cheap out on between a Limited and an SR5.

Yep! That plug was the only difference between the two. Seems to me they could have just had them all the same and tucked the one wire away.
