Just finished reading CR automotive edition, their biggest complaint with the Tundra TRD in particular was a harsh ride, I think my truck rides pretty darn good. Its no Lexus, but its no hay wagon either! whats anybody else think?

Was this it? My friend just texted this to me. I guess he's implying the tundra's no good? The tundra never gets great reviews... But we all know better.

CR rated the Honda Ridgeline as the best half-ton truck. WHAT! They don't have a clue, so when I saw that I immediately cancelled my online subscription (bought it to check major appliances).

I don't put much faith in these publications. For autos, I will decide how it rates after I drive it - not taking someone else's word for it. BTW: Tundra rates on top in my book!

Pickup trucks tend to have a harsher ride than passenger cars since pickups have suspension systems geared to handle a maximum capacity load whereas most trucks are driven daily nearly unladen. I don't think CU gets this.

Despite what others in this thread have suggested, CU is no slave to the "Big 3". In fact GM, Ford and Chrysler tend to score considerably lower overall than their Japanese competition. You can see this tendency easily in CU's annual Auto Buying Guide which has page after page of solid red circles (indicating much better than average) and partially-filled red circles (indicating better than average) on the Toyota pages whereas the Big 3 pages tend to have much more black solid circles (much worse than average) and partially-filled black circles (worse than average).

I think your friend is just giving you a hard time, "busting your chops". I suggest you thank him volubly and profusely for the data then politely ask him to work on his *timing* since detrimental information on a truck is much more relevant *before* you buy a truck!

Exactly, if you want something that runs and drives like a car then buy a car... As for me, I want my truck to be a truck! Tough and reliable! Stop wimpafying our trucks...

My boss, who has a 2013 Chevy 2500 HD, rode to lunch with me the other day. His exact words were, "This thing rides smooth as hell compared to my truck and I can't believe all the room inside". A few days later he drove to lunch and stated, "Told you this truck will kick your ass", as I was bouncing around. The damn thing rode like a tank...

Yeah on another forum one poster swore that AW, Car and driver and the other truck magazines said the Tundra was the worse truck ever. I basically pointed him to KBB and what the actual reviews from ACTUAL owners had to say. Nice how the pro-reviewers give this truck a 7 and the actual owners give it a 9.4. Hmmm think I will go with the owners words over the guy who drives the truck for a day just to do a review.

Well, not sure if any of you have ridden in a new F150, but they have a really nice ride. To be honest, 4 of my buddies own F250s (2011-2016) and those trucks ride very nice.

We haven't had any significant upgrade since 07. Twelve years is a long time. Doesn't mean it still doesn't get the job done....

Just remember, F-18 Super Hornets have been noted to have a harsh ride too.

My dad and brother both drive EcoBoosts, and I'm not gonna lie it's a pretty nice pickup. It's probably the only other 1/2 ton I'd want if I didn't have a Tundra. And two of my buddies have 2015/2016 F250 Platinums, and if down the road I can buy a 3/4 ton in addition to my Tundra, I'd buy one without too much thought.

@ColoradoTJ the only problem I've found with the Ford Super Duty's is that when their suspension is worn out, it's rough enough to make ya piss blood (it doesn't help that they're a solid axle front end). I drove a gasser F250 for a period of time at my last job, and it actually made my back ache with how rough a ride it was. Of course, it was a farm truck and had 85,000 something miles on it...

Oh they do ride nice. However, comparing my FILs F150 trips to the dealership vs mine I will just put different shocks and springs on if needed.

I won't even get into the air bag suspension on the Rams. They are the smoother riding truck I have been in.

The wife and I test drove a F250 and Chevy 2500 LTZ back to back from the dealership. We went down the highway, paved back roads, and washboard dirt roads. To our surprise the F250 rode better than the Chevy and had the quieter interior.

Much like anything that wears out, I don't doubt the ride is affected on anything not to design specs.

My point, CR isn't trashing the Tundra. In fact, the ride is better on most everything else. Does this make the Tundra a POS? Nope. Now go take those nice car like trucks and go do some real work or go Offroad with them.

My current Tundra has 68k+ miles on it with the factory alignment. I have never in my life experienced that. Usually something was wore out or going out. My alignment tech said that this is very common with these trucks. He also told me not to come back until 100k unless I see uneven tire wear. I have had 4 checks from this shop so far. I wish there was someway to tell everyone how much Offroad that has been on this truck (on my third set of step bars) and work it has done on the mountain property. So impressed.

I think the Tundra Pro's are the best riding truck I've ever been in.
To be fair, I haven't rode in a new Ram, but have been in both Ford & Chevy new models and it's not close compared to the Pro.

TRO is different suspension. They do ride great. So does a Raptor for the same reasons.

This is what I meant by the USMC F-18 Super Hornet "harsh" ride. They do suck. A lot of air like our Tundras. CR is good for rating toasters and vacuum cleaners. heh heh. The dude flying this bird no doubt stayed at a Holiday Inn the previous night.

Anybody want to guess how many G's this aviator is pulling? Over and over. I guarantee this Jarhead aviator does not walk up to a Prius when it's time to drive home. Bank on it. Just sayin.

USMC don't fly supers, the only have babies. Navy is the only ones with Supers. The ride is even worse on taxi.

Yeah my bag, the Marines have avoided the Supers by choice. They are staying with the 18C's and want to forestall any Super Hornet purchases in anticipation for funding enough F-35C's for 5 VMFAs. The Marines always have to worry about budgeting and are now even using some ex Navy F/A-18C's. Doesn't real matter what they fly. We had F4 Phantom II's (which were retired in 1996)in our unit and from 1980 to 1984 we kicked ass 5 years in a row over the Air Force's F-15s and F-16s in Operation Thundershoot at Kadena AFB Okinawa. It always come down to who has the best the aviators in the end, not necessarily the bird. Navy just gives us ride to where we need to get to, to get the job done right the first time. (Just joking, Navy has very good Aviators too)
