I still see safety chains running parallel instead of crossed. Usually it's a "cool and carefree" type dude with wrist hanging over the steering wheel, showing everyone how effortless driving is for him.:annoyed:It's too bad Natural Selection has to cost innocent lives though.

Trailer safety is no joke, so always make sure your load is correct on the trailer, and the trailer is properly connected.

I think that in order to drive with a trailer you should have to go through a drivers certification course and have a designator on your DL.

In the military we have to be certified to drive with a trailer.... the training includes learning how to properly hitch the trailer, drive with it, and backing up. Makes total sense to have to be trained on it before doing it..... juat like getting a DL, CDL, MC DL.

I completely agree. I remember my dad teaching me to drive a trailer and how difficult it was at first. The first thing I learned was how to connect a trailer to the truck (with and without a WDH). Next how to load the trailer. Then first thing he would let me do is back the trailer into our parking space, where the trailer only had 6 inches of clearance on either side. once I got good with that, he started to teach me going forward around the block, then more once I was trusted.

I aggre. Ford is only adding to the problem by having nannies to help people tow that have no clue on how to tow.

I’m betting on their trailer back-up assist.

Though I don’t necessarily agree - ID10T’s will be idiots regardless. Though it is easier to back up a trailer than it is to make sure weights and weight transfer are set up correctly and within limits.

A little of this and a little of that.
I never really realized how big of a problem this was. I agree w/ @4x4_Angel it should be required to have a certification in order to pull a trailer.

Cool. One of these days I’ll get @ColoradoTJ to teach me so I can learn WTF to do. Not that I have anything to tow, but doesn’t hurt to learn about the right way to do it just in case.

I agree with needing training and certified before someone can drive this kind of weight. As the rules state now, I can go to my bank, pull out 350,000.00 and go buy a Class A motor coach with a tag axle, air brakes, and a can do attitude. Then I can drive that huge piece of equipment over to the trailer sales lot and buy a 20’ tag trailer. Then load everything inside it and the kitchen sink for good measure and hit the open road. I find that insulting considering what I had to go through getting my Class A CDL.

To make matters even worse, z some salt in my open wounds, anyone can go get a huge TT (or a 5th wheel), usually an underrated truck, and “give’er a go.”

    Makes me sick.

Agreed too many muppets thinking they can tow, I have never towed so I would definitely have someone who knows what they are doing teach me before I attempted

Me being a 64 year old "relic" I actually made an effort to learn all I could about towing my boat when I bought my first one!
Don't tell me you'd actually make an EFFORT to learn about something, BEFORE attempting it! What a "weirdo":D:thumbsup:
