I've been sober for 4 months and some days now. I quit drinking back in January. It's been a journey, but one I'll never regret.

May 10th was 10 years for me. A six pack turned in to a 12 pack turned in to drinking every day. May 10th 2008 I said no more.

Was not too much of a struggle, hardest part was getting use to doing stuff without a beer.

I knew it was time when I polished off a case of Miller light in a day and couldn't fall asleep that night and started hearing things. Bad, bad day. I spent the better part of two straight years a functioning drunk. Day in, day out. I'd wake up drunk and go to work like nothing happened. Get off, start drinking. Missed a lot of good things in life. I do regret that. Life lesson the hard way. I feel better. Both mentally and physically. I am close with two coworkers that are sober. One for 2 weeks longer than me, the other for a year and a half. I refuse to go back down that road. Not worth it. I did it without rehab, AA or anything except the will to stop. First two weeks were hell.

3 years 27 days ago I was 267lbs and had a 15-20 beer a day habit. I made my mind up and quit all alcohol. Never going back.
Quit Diet Cokes (all sodas) 6 months later.

Congrats mudslinger, I've been sober for 25 plus years. I really like beer though, so I drink N/A beer.
    I like Clausthaler and Bitburger.

    Congrats Chris!! Definitely an accomplishment!

I’ve had family members that were raging achololics, and it does run in my family. I know the pain that can come with it (and eventually without - for the drinker) but it’s all worth it. Stay strong, brother!

You’ve got a whole community on here if you need help, man!

My highest weight was 282lbs. I'm now 270lbs. Slow progress, but the slower the weight loss the more likely it is to stay off. I've cut back a lot on my soda intake as well. Changing small things in my diet here and there.

Congratulations. I will be sober 7 years in August. Im a much better man than i was back then. Hang in there, you can keep it up if your mind is set to do so.
Like @tlr641 said above, the hardest part is continuing to do what you did without the habit.

I felt like hell for the first two weeks. I had some withdrawal symptoms that blew. Getting sober was harder than maintaining sobriety.

Alcoholism, addiction and mental illness run rampant in my family. I seem to be the only one doing something about it. My youngest son refuses any drugs/alcohol. He's 15 now. My oldest is 2 1/2 months clean. Almost fought someone over being offered alcohol. They kept bugging him. He lost his cookies. Told them I'm clean, my dads sober, I saw what alcohol did to him for so long. I'm NOT going to do it. Got in dudes face. I was really proud of him for that.
