I've been a long time lurker of Toyota forums but never joined any. Now with a new Tundra, and the wealth of information I've seen here, I figured it's time to jump in! and who knows, maybe I can help some people out along the way as well!

I had a 2007 6 speed manual FJ Cruiser that I adored, but during my last trip from Minnesota to Utah, I realized I really wanted a V8 but didn't want to sacrifice interior cargo room too much. The Crewmax Tundra fit the bill perfectly. I'm big into "overlanding" and can't wait to start modding the Tundra. I do all the work myself, and honestly have just as much fun planning and building as I do utilizing the mods. I will always have a soft spot for the FJ's but excited to start on a new journey with the best truck on the market (in my humble opinion).

Here are a few pics of my last trip with the FJ (sold it 3 weeks after I got back from this adventure)

And here's the new project - 2018 MGM Crewmax Tundra Limited TRD off-road:

Seriously don't even know where to start... I have so many plans for this thing. Looking forward to becoming more acquainted with you guys!

Welcome from CO. You'll have lots of advice on this site. And maybe start with the lift, wheels, tires, LSD combo ;-)

Welcome from Ca. Eager to see your progress. If I were starting a build I'd armor up first, RCI skids (Just not their gas tank skid for the 38 gal tank), SDHQ ABS sensor guards. Sliders. Then I'd do suspension and tires/ wheels maybe regear. If I did my suspension before armor I might be tempted to try it out and inadvertently do some body damage.

Lift, wheels, and tires are definitely on the list. This is probably a really dumb question, but I plan to run an ARB air locker... would LSD be an option in conjunction with that and, if yes, does it even make sense to have both? The "simulated" LSD in the Tundra would be fine for every day driving I would think and then just use the locker when off-roading.

Just curious why not the RCI gas tank skid? The TRD OR package comes with the engine and gas tank skid already, although I'm sure the BudBilt or RCI would be much stronger. Definitely want to do the ABS guards and I'm leaning toward the All Pro sliders with a line-x finish (my buddy with the maroon FJ has these and really likes them). For suspension, I'm leaning toward either the MCM mid-travel with ADS 3.0 or the Icon stage 10 from SDHQ. I really like the idea of doing 4.88 gears as well for larger tires.

RCI gas tank skid has bolts hanging down, very poor design, they'll catch and cause more problems than not having a skid...IMO I like (and have) their other skids.
I'm running the AP sliders and really like 'em too. They're plenty strong.... I've done some testing.:D
Also running the MCM set up, 2.5 'cause they weren't making 3.0 when I got mine. Great stuff. I think Matt has the geometry for the UCAs figured out better than anyone else... Again IMO
@renosauce has a mount for the ARB compressor.
