Please give me a little help. I will be painting my Borla exhaust black. I have read and am following the thread that discusses the painting process for the exhaust. However I would like to keep the "Borla" etching in the exhaust tips unpainted. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to accomplish this?

    TIA

One can barely see the etching in the above pic. Just shown for example.

I can’t think of a way to do it without possibly ruining the paint afterwards. I thought about putting grease and then wiping everything down and then painting it. Following washing it out but I don’t think that would come out right. Why don’t you try a different approach and paint the etching whatever color you would want afterwards.

Paint the whole tip black. Once that’s nice and dry pick whatever color you want and spray just the etching. Immediately wipe the surface down leaving the etching painted.

I had mine powder coated. It looked great at first, and the engraving showed well. The heat messed up the coating though. The guy told me it probably would.
He recommended having it ceramic coated, and quoted me 50 bucks.

I'm getting my TRD exhaust painted black and that is exactly what my painter said....ceramic not powder coat.
