Hi all, apologize in adv if this been asked/discussed before.

Anyhow, after months of going back and forth on what trim level would best fit my situation, i've decided to just go forward with the new 2018 4x4 TRD Sport. Its has just the right amount of the minimum features i will need prior to any future mods. Can you tell me what you're getting "drive out price" regardless of state?

I paid 37.5k out the door and that was with a TRD exhaust system installed. Had 3 dealers battling over my business. Sticker price of $47,008.

Something smells here that is at least an $11k discount off MSRP. If correct then more power to you.

Man I took a week off work for that deal. Spent hour after painful hour inside three dealerships, driving back and forth between them. Didnt see my newborn for two days for that deal. I'm still sitting here at the house exhausted from that fight.

Picture of mine at dealership that took 3 grand off of the “Internet Price” after half a day of negotiating. Dealership had a CM TRD Sport with an internet price of $47,000. I could have gotten that TRD Sport for 44 grand but the brown interior was ugly as hell. Hope this helps a little.

Never get "deals" here in Shreveport, LA. Lucky to get $2,500 off current model. End up negotiating for floor mats, tint, service extension, etc.

This is pretty far under invoice, no? Not sure why they would sell at a loss.

Yeah 4x4 CM TRD SPORT. Honestly couldn't believe the deal myself but I kept pushing the dealerships against each other. I mean let's be honest even if they only make 500 more than what they paid toyota for the deal they still make money from kick back for selling a vehicle. Forget what that is called. Regardless I am military so I had them double the rebate and got an extra $1500 in tax credit for registering out of state in my home of record of KS. Wasn't easy but it can be done.

On a side note 37.5k is still expensive AF I bought a 2013 ram for 38k with the air suspension and this doesn't have the half the creature comforts as that truck did. Comparing apples and oranges but tlthe RAM stickered at 50k. Moral of the story is there is always more money they can take off. Should never settle for less than 7,500 off MSRP.

Exactly man and I'm on the east coast. These dealerships are massive. I was shooting the breeze with my sales guy who said he sells an average of 20 cars a month. Multiplied by X number of sales dudes. That is insane. They take a small bath on one and get a kick back from toyota for moving a truck they are still going to sell 100+ vehicles that month that they will make money on.

Brother, I am not trying to call you out but how is that even possible? Did you have a trade included in that number? Do you have some sort of military or employee discount with that? The best i have gotten 4 different dealers to offer is between 11-13% off overall. Your number is about 23% discounted. From a 47k msrp which still required ttl, (using a 5% tax average and zero fee), you will be best at about 49K. You said you got it for 37.5 Drive out so with simple math that is about 23% off. Even if you just take 47k and divide that with the 37.5 you're still looking at about 20% off. That is one Crazy ass deal if it is true. If so, please help me get one of those. Btw, where you at?

Rhode island. No trade. Just literally took a week off work and whittled and whittled every waking moment driving back and forth. Was about to pay 38.5 and as I was signing papers and already put money down the dealer I bought from called and we started the process all over after 3 days of negotiations

:) lets see those pics of that sweet ride - hella deal you got there. can you get the same deal again? haha Hell i would fly there and drive it back to texas. My tax here in TX for cars is 6.25% vs the 7% in RI. Of course i am not military but that still put me in the upper 30s vs being in the 40+ range.

I registered in KS to avoid the tax rate here. Still was 6.5% but I get a tax credit of 1k. So that helped with the price as well. Also only taxes on sales price where as most states or at least RI taxes you on the MSRP.

I can see this one being possible since they Toyota have bigger incentives on TSS and trd off.

I don't doubt this guy at all.

I got a similar crazy discount when I bought my 2017 2WD in June of 2017. I bought the Fighting Chance reports for the 2017 Tundra (buy a 2018 report, or 2019 if you want one of those) for about $50. It lists dealer's "actual cost" for every single package and option. Basically, "employee" pricing. Spent $50 to save thou$ands.

    http://fightingchance.com/

    http://fightingchance.com/pricing.php?js=y

I used this to establish how low I could offer on the exact configuration I found/ wanted, without being told to pound sand. The dealer let me have what I wanted for the exact "dealer cost" I knew was listed in the report (which, on advice of Fighting Chance, I did not mention I had purchased). I know the dealer still made money 2 ways that I know about:

    1. Each dealer is paid from Toyota for every vehicle they sell; the amount paid is determined based on how many that dealer sold per period (month, quarter, year). So the highest-volume sales dealerships make the most from Toyota (highest payout tier) and (if they're very high-volume) are most likely to give you a great deal (pretty much forgo the profit from the retail sale) because they're getting so much of their profit from Toyota to move vehicles.

    2. Except for special orders (customer ordered and paid deposit), dealerships don't get to ask Toyota what to send; they have to accept what Toyota delivers. And dealerships have a set time period between delivery to the lot and when they have to start paying Toyota for each vehicle (even if the vehicle has not yet been sold). So, if a vehicle sits too long on the lot unsold, a dealership must start paying Toyota for it (losing money). Therefore, strange as it seems, some dealerships are benefitted by moving vehicles with huge discounts on the retail side to cut costs and increase their sales volume incentives, on the wholesale side.

To guarantee a best deal, find out which dealer(s) in your area sell the most volume; get the Fighting Chance report for the year and make you want to buy; find a truck you want that's been sitting unsold on a lot for several months (visit after hours to avoid sales people and photo window stickers so you can check the VIN later at home); then make an offer (I prefer Internet or phone) about 4 days before the end of the month. If they don't accept your low offer on the day you offer, they will very likely do on the final day of the month to help make their volume sales goals (i.e. one extra last minute sale boosts volume, may move them into a higher tier for which they get paid a higher bonus for every vehicle sold that same month... before they even knew about you.) End of each month and end of dealer's fiscal year are best for consumers to buy.

Edit: this works even if you don't pick a truck that's been on the lot a long time. I made my deal for a truck on the lot (a second best colour ;)) then, when the deal was handshake'd and printed, asked them to trade with another local dealership I knew had the exact truck I wanted (the BEST colour!). I just know it makes sense that you could probably get them to go below "cost" for a truck that's gone unsold several months.

To make a long story short, I got my 18 CM TRD OR for $41k OTD. It is actually a lease that I am going to buy out once the dust settles from my insurance payment from my last car accident. I could have got a better deal on the purchase, but I was more concerned with the lease payment amount, I needed to make sure I could float the payment while I wait for the lawyers to duke it out.

38.5 out the door including them swapping out my TRD wheels, TPMS sensors.

Hate the factory wheels that came on the sport.

Yes, they do treat me nicely and I got a "Friends and Family discount". It's just that they don't have a problem selling them at that price. I could buy one anywhere in the country as I travel for a living but, what the hell..
