Got a more discreet A119 and put it in the front, moved the Yi to the back which required a monoprice 15ft USB cable (the included 10ft not long enough). The Yi is discreet when the tinted back window is up. All cabling is tucked into the seams, the Yi runs underneath the rear Husky mat, under the center console, in front of the passenger mat. Both dashcam cables exit under the glove box and plug into the A119's dual USB cigar charger. Using Sandisk High Endurance micro SD's.

Thanks! I haven't done a detailed write-up but it's easy. They come with cables long enough for the front, basically tuck the cable in like this out of sight and it plugs into a USB cigar:



They're both in my opinion after research, bang for buck budget dashcams. Both are very good day/night. The A119 has better vid quality than the Yi but has no wifi where you can instantly connect the Yi to your phone and view vids. On the other hand, the Yi is reported to suffer from extreme cold and won't work until the interior warms up a bit, it doesn't get that cold where I live. I could not think of a clean way to install another A119 in the back because our rear window rolls down completely so I wedged the Yi into the corner, it can also be 3M'd to the inside back pillar. Hiding the Yi cable is just creative tucking.

It really depends what people want. A better budget dashcam in some eyes is the Thinkware f50, not as good vid quality as A119/Yi but has "parking mode" where it catches a vandal or someone bumping into your parked truck, perhaps a greater feature priority. The higher end Thinkwares and BlackVues offer discreetness, good quality vids, parking mode and other features, meant to be hardwired like the f50. So in essence, my cams are to document accidents and prevent insurance scenarios of he/she said, they don't do anything when I'm parked.

What's important is using a high endurance microSD meant for dashcams.

If you do a search here, others have installed an A119 in the front, or particularly, a very clean looking small BlackVue in the rear (pic below) unlike my big honking GoPro-like cam, I just don't want to spend that much.

Just received my Jowett Performance oil filter casing with quick drain option.

It's very hefty. I switched out my T4R with the metal casing (before I knew about this option) and very happy with that compared to OEM.
The Jowett is even better than the OEM metal casing especially with the quick drain option. It's a Fumoto valve that I can easily insert a nipple and drain the contents of the filter housing into my oil drain pan. Should make changing oil (I also purchased a Fumoto valve for the drain pan) much easier and cleaner.

Yes. The rubber cover will cover up any holes. Drilled one for the power cable too.

Tried to mount it to the floor of the Tundra, but it wasnt very secure. Decided.."What the Hell, might as well drill it down to be stable, and cover it up when/if I remove" Sure enough, quick and easy. It uses the X-Grip RAM mount, RAM 2.5" Round ball mount on the RAM mount iPad holder, and one on the dash, and 2 of the Short Double Socket Arms and 1 of the Long length Socket Arms.

Emblem is raised ABS rubber that I bought in Japan. The coaster are not lighted. Japan has the Toyota grille emblem that is lighted

Update, I moved this Yi to the back yesterday where I had no dashcam and because it’s so visible with the back window down, I noticed something different driving today, no tailgaters! At stoplights people also stayed further back.



I tested open window 65mph and it stayed put. Here’s how I wedged it, no 3M nothing.

Super easy to install... However if you do it, I would recommend wearing some nitrile gloves to get a better grip on the bulbs when trying to pull them out.
Great output. Not quite as much as I expected, but way more than stock.





Second mod was to install a tablet holder. I use MotionX on a Wifi only iPad (with a Bad Elf receiver) for my navigation. Super easy to download the maps for offline use, and I set up my routes on Goog Earth.

 

Nice setup, can we get some pics of the mount and how you secured it. I have the left over ram mount from my 4Runner. I mounted it to the side of the console by the steering wheel like they had in the video you provided.

 

I will get pics, but honestly, its 4 self tapping longer screws drilled right in. At first I was going to leave the pad removed, but I like the rubber acting as a little bit of a shock absorber. Ill get some pics though. I also made a hole right above the extra 2 High Amp USBs I added for the cable plug in that was routed down the side of the radio behind the panel.
