Maybe get a large drop like 10 like u said. You can always come up from bottom. You can go any longer down if you don't have it.

My advice, try to find a cheap 10 inch adjustable drop. Prob is with that much drop they probably ain't gonna be cheap. More drop = more money. But at least that way you can adjust depending on what u towing. Different height trailers are what can adjust the drop you need. But imo better to have a larger drop and not need than to need and not have. See if you can borrow a smaller drop from a friend at 1st. If it works on couple trailers then get a smaller drop. That way u don't pay for what u don't need and can figure out by borrowing. If u not gonna borrow then go with like 10. Like I said u can always come up. But u can't go further down if u don't got it.

Measure the coupler height when the jet ski trailer is level. Then measure the height to your hitch and subtract to get diff. I have 2" balls on 2" drop and on 3-1/4" for boat and utility trailer. I refuse to buy anything with a 1-7/8". When I bought the utility trailer it had a 1-7/8". I made the dude change the coupler to a 2 before I bought it. I have seen 1-7/8" on some utility trailers and pop up campers but that is it.

Yeah def 2 and 2 &5/16 are my most common used. 2 inch boat, log splitter, and the 2 & 5/16 is for my tandem big trailer. However I do have a 1 7/8 on something I just can't remember. Chances are if your're planning to tow smaller things like jet ski I'm guessing it will be 2. But it don't hurt to have a reversible ball. That's what I got, then I have a separate 1 7/8 hitch for the once in blue moon other.

This is the adjustable hitch I have and love it I pull three different trailers alot and can just pull a pin and put it where it needs to be. It's made from Billet aluminum has two stainless steel balls and also rated for 10,000lbs.IMG_20180413_073833162.jpg

Andersen rapid hitch ftw. Comes with 2&2-5/16 ball mount or the optional 1-7/8-2” combo. Adjustable up to 10” in different configurations and 10k weight rating. Sold a ton of them when I worked at the local trailer dealer. Never had any issues.

Does that Deaver bring you up 4inches in Rear ? Since you’re not using blocks or are you sagging ?

No, it's a custom build for the lift. Rear sits a tad higher than the front. I'm buying a trailer on Wed that'll settle the leaf's when towed, then I can figure what size of shackles to buy to help smooth out the ride.

You mentioned camper, what's the tongue weight of the things you're expecting to pull? If it's significant, you'll want to use a WDH with dual sways so your back end doesn't sag to the ground and it's not as squirrelly going by transport trucks. The WDH usually comes with a drop hitch.

A Blue Ox WDH has proprietary shank, I'm 5" over stock with 2.5" suspension gain and 2.5" taller tires, it works for me.

If you're 4"-6" lift, adding bigger tire height too, you might be better off with an Equalizer WDH which can use whatever height Curt shank if the stock one isn't low enough.

    download.png

No WDH and say a camper with high TW, you'll end up needing Airbags, SumoSprings or Timbrens, and I think that's fixing backend stress you can prevent with a WDH.

Oh I didn't notice u say looking to tow camper. I thought just small things like jet skis. In that case might not want to go cheap. Get something decent if towing serious weight.

If you buy one those high $$$$ hitches you will need a lock. I have a Bolt keyed to my ignition key. I had one on my Tacoma that froze up. I had to take a hammer to it. Bolt replaced for free. I noticed replacement had some white grease in it. Good idea to remove now and then and regrease. I like not having to carry an another key.

20180516_092216.jpgLetting the 4.88's cool after the first tow. 7" lift w/37's and the 8" drop on the last setting. Truck squatted prob less then 2" on the progressive leafs. I think the 10" drop hitch would've been better incase I ever tow a smaller trailer or go to a larger tire.
