Quick question, when you guys wire up a light bar are you going directly to the battery for power or splicing into somewhere else. I need to wore up my light bar. The directions are pretty vague.

Another question. My switch has 4 wires, black (ground), green, and 2 red with orange stripe. I get one is power and one is ground, what would the other two wires be for?

I tied directly to the battery and kept the relay under the hood as well and only had to run the switch wire through the firewall.

    Is yours a lighted switch?

Yes, it is backlit. Thank you for the document. That clears things up for me.

Depending on the size/ wattage of your light bar, you should probably be using a relay.

Ok, that explains the 4 wires. Ron posted a file that shows a possible wiring diagram. The colors might not match, but I would have thought your kit came with wiring instructions at least detailing the color code of the wires for the switch.

Mine came with a harness directly wired to the battery, with a push button switch which I cut off and passed through the firewall (wires only) and added an LED switch, fuse tapped inside to illuminate the switch.

Not my pic but same end result, lower middle switch:

Direct to the battery. Used the Baja Designs wire harness. It's a little pricey, but I was on a time limit and new the harness could do what I needed. Utilizes a relay so I could use a Mictuning factory OEM looking switch.
