Hey guys, can anybody advise me on if the 2018 headlight front turn signal sockets are 7443 CK based or standard based? Ordered some VLEDS and want to confirm I ordered the right base. Thanks!

Awesome, thanks @B737 . I actually went with the V6 amber tritons...just delivered today. For some reason, I didn't think to check this prior to me ordering them, I just assumed they were CK like the 2014-17s were. I see they are not, so I went ahead and ordered the 7443 base. Thanks very much for helping out and providing the answer! Non-CK front turn signal base on the 2018 headlights!

Good to see you on this side GA. The other forum seems to be dying.

Since the turn signal in the 2018 housings are signal only (no dtrl) what will your V6 Tritons do functionally with 2018 lights?

Haha, when I saw you replied to this thread I thought to myself, "Hey, I know that guy!". It does seem like this forum has more activity from a wider range of members. I'll be checking this one much more frequently now.

Good question. I bought the iHacker harness, so it even deletes the amber parking light function of that bulb. I didn't know that part either (I'm glad it does though) until after I ordered the V6s. So basically, the amber only V6s are going to be really expensive bulbs that only light up when the turn signal is on...overkill for that application for sure. The better choice is the bulbs you linked to.

To salt the wound, I had VLEDS overnight the 7443 base and via Priority Express so I'd have it today or Sunday at the latest, and for some reason USPS is sitting on the package and says it won't be delivered until Monday. I'm deep ($) into these bulbs that are just going to light up when the turn signal blinks  Oh well!

I also ordered some 921 rear turn signal bulbs and 3-ohm resistors that I will install in the back of the truck to cure the hyper flash. Can't install those until the correct V3 base gets here otherwise it'll be too much load.

I have triton V6 on my 2018 headlights. What I did for them to work is use my 2016 base socket. Just don’t do the repin in the signal area and it works. Bright AF

I bought iHacker's harness which is already switched around I think.

    Good...glad they're bright AF. That's what I wanted :)

Did you adjust the depth of the bulb any, or just rock it as it came?

I didn’t use a harness. It wouldn’t work with a harness since I purchased the 2016 fitment. Also the V6 isn’t adj like the v3’s.

I could have sworn I read something around here where someone used a switch back module (similar to triton kit) and somehow got it to turn off the white LED dtrl when the signal was activated. (If you really wanted to go nuts)

I used the ihacker harness v1.0 too, I think I’m gonna get his 2.0 harnesses that ditches the Moto control and keep as a spare.

These are going to be some bright signals haha

I'm installing ihacker's 2.0 harness as we speak. Just now making the conversion to 2018 lights.

All good with the 2018 LED headlight and fog light install. I bought a set of the de-pin tools off Amazon that iHacker mentions in his thread and it made depinning the gray wire pretty easy.

Got the non-CK 7443 base for the V6s in today and finished the full LED bulb conversion - tonight I installed VLEDS in my front turn signal, rear turn signals (3-ohm VLEDS resistor tapped in the rear of the truck), brake lights, and 3rd brake light. All I can say is wow - VLEDS is living up to its name. Those new 921 bulbs they have are pricey ($40/each), but they are amazingly bright. It's nuts. And no surprise, the V6s are insane. The brake lights for my 2016 (3157CK) I had bought a 1-1.5yrs ago but never installed until tonight, so they are the older type ("Platinum" series). I'll see how they look in the daylight, but they should be fine. If I don't like them, I'll get some of the newer bulbs that have the chrome heat sink built in. But I don't think that'll be needed.

nice GA. do you have a link to the depin tool? i used my tool and it still sucked to get the pin out

in my brake lights i have the vled tritons red brake light version, they are still working well after 3 years. if they die i might switch to the regular 3157ck if you find yours bright enough. did you install the white bed flood lights from vled (in the 3rd brake light)? i forgot the number, they are stupid bright too

Here are the depin tools I purchased off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07237NMVL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The one in particular that I used was this one:

^Took a little bit of time to figure out how the plug wanted the tool positioned to lift the locking tab (flat part of that tool should be facing the center of the plug, so rounded part towards the outside of the plug) and then the pin just slid right out.

I was thinking about getting the tritons for the brake lights. If I wouldn't have previously purchased the brake bulbs, I would have.

I do have the 921 5000k bulbs in the bed cargo lights (did those right when I bought this truck in mid-2016). You're right - stupid bright! Love it. Also have the 7440 5000k reverse lights that are like 1000+ lumens each...love them as well. Really like all VLEDS stuff - they're pricier, but I feel you get what you pay for with them. Seems like you feel the same way based on how you run VLEDS as well. As soon as they bring the LPF back, I'll be ordering it :)

Nope haven’t done that one yet. I’ve been thinking about a bed cover and removing my plastic drop in liner with a spray in, then so the bed lights. Keep me posted on what and how you end up doing with that, I’m very interested!

@B737 just read on the other forum that you did the anytime fog light mod. I have a quick question about that...

Curious of any effects this anytime fog light mod had on the DRL in your 2018 headlights. Does your 2018 LED DRL dim when you turn the headlights on? If so, I assume you tapped the light grey wire that goes into the flasher relay? Did you notice anything off/does the LED DRL dim fine along with the anytime fog light mod?

I’d like to do that mod, but don’t want it affecting how my LED DRL functions/dims with the headlights.

    GA,
the two circuits are independent of one another, so you're safe.

being right there working with the gray wire, doing the anytime fog light at the same time made sense. I used iHackers harness and depinned the gray wire which gets tied into his harness for dimming (i believe you did the exact same). the ATFL mod will have no effect on this.

i just ordered his V2 harness to keep as a spare for when the morimoto controller dies :)

Awesome! I think I will do the mod as well...wish I would have known about it when I had the dash apart doing the ihacker harness, but no big deal to tear it open again.

Thanks for all the info! Glad it doesn’t interfere with anything related to the headlights/DRLs :)

I’ve got a set of V3’s in my spyder headlights already. Can the V3’s be installed in the 2018 LED headlights like your V6’s(using the existing plug?).
BTW, I’m ordering the TRS harness for my ‘18 conversion.

TRS harness isn’t the best. The amber DRL bulb remains and the new LED DRL doesn’t dim when the headlights are on.

I had been planning on purchasing the lights and the harness when @eldoubleu was making the harness.
Due to work and family issues, it was relegated to the back burner. When I came back and checked the forum, he was no longer offering the harness. I did not know about the ihacker at that time.
Having had dealings with TRS, I decided to go with them. I guess if it fails, I’ll go with the ihacker’s.

Thanks for the replies @BlueBottle and @GreatAvalon !

Well, @DallasTundra you made a great choice not buying from eledoublewhatever. That would have been an even worse harness from everything people are saying everywhere. Just reporting on what I’ve seen. There are (bad) threads about him and his stuff...lots of people not happy.

Glad we (cough @BlueBottle) mentioned @iHacker harness Then! I know i’ve Seen you around the forums quite a bit so I just figured you knew about ihacker but chose TRS instead. Apologies for assuming that! I can tell you I had nothing short of a great experience with ihacker, his instructions, and his product. Truly an OEM type solution. I especially like it because of all the functionality, all while not having the cheap China Morimoto H4 harness in the mix. Instead, OEM lights are powered from OEM power. How great, I literally can’t say enough good things lol.

Dallas, just make sure you buy the TRD Pro headlights that are all black instead of the sport headlights that are black chrome. I mean, I have the black chrome and they look sweet, but I would have bought the black 2019 TRD Pro lights had they been available :)

Edit: Come to think of it, I remember you from the other tundra forum...:D

Hey @B737, when you installed the bulbs you mentioned above, did you have to use the hyperflash fix? I tried putting the High Visibility Amber VLED's in my LED headlights and the VLED's won't light up and they cause my other signals to flash fast (hyperflash). Any input would be appreciated!

Flip the bulb in the socket and try. They should now be hyper flashing.

You will need a hyper flash fix. 6ohm for 1 led bulb per side, 3 ohm for 2 led bulbs per side. You have to add a resistor in each side, so 2 resistors total. If you have amber DRL, you have to tap the resistors in the rear because amber DRL rides the same wire as bright turn signal flash. But if you have amber drls you shouldn’t have bought those bulbs, so I’m going to assume you don’t.

I have a 6 ohm resistor on each rear tail lamp (only), and prob just enough additional resistance from the turn signals in the side mirrors that I dont get any hyper flash.
