Official Tundra Wheel and Tire Setups - Pics and Info

Decided to stay with stock look, TRD Pro suspension with 20” Gunner wheels wrapped in 285/55R20 BFG K02, now I know I can run 295/55R20 tires on next go round.

 

Looking at Method NV 20x9 with +25 offset on 275/60/20, truck has 5100s on front at middle setting. Will I have any rubbing? I don't think so but want to be sure

 

+50mm for 20” Limited wheels

 

Anyone know if a 2017 wheel will fit on a 2012 Tundra with the hub difference?

CENTER BORE (size of the hole in the center of the wheel):
2003 - 2006: 110mm
2007 - 2013: 110mm
2014 - Present: 110.5mm

 

For anybody that's running a 275/70/18 tire on an 18x9 wheel, did the company give you any grief about mounting them on the rims? Have you noticed any adverse affects when mounting them on wide rims?

Still deciding between 18" or 17" rims, but I noticed that all of the 275 wide tires have a max. rim width of 8.5 but all of the 18" rims I can find are 9" wide. I'm not opposed to doing this, just wanting to know if I may run in to problems.

I like my Rock Warrior. (315-70 R17)

I'm going to like my Rock Warrior even more when I get the lift.
So far, I've removed the front inner fender liner, and the mud flaps.
Cab mount chop is likely, although doesn't appear necessary.

 

I had a 60 day trial with those Continental crosscontacts. I decided not to keep them. I ended up switching to Continental Terrain Contacts A/T.... But I did some research on thoes. They are made for 90% highway and 10% offroad. So, that's what I decided to go with instead. So far, I give them an A. I'm really digging them because of how much I drive on the highway also. They do well offroad too, not the best, but well. Here are some pics.

 

Fuel deep dish 20x10 with -12 offset, 285/55/20 Ridge Grapplers. Rides like a dream. No trimming no cutting 3/1 leveling kit.

 

Sitting next to the 2014 Tacoma with a Maxtrac Spindle Lift 4", Dakar Leaf Pack, Fox 2.0 Coilovers, Fuel Hostage Wheels and Nitto MT Trail Grapplers. Now I don't know what truck I like better.

 

I just had Cooper 275/65x18 AT3's installed on 18x9 wheels with no issues and Cooper website recommends 7 1/2- 9 1/2 rim width.

Smaller tires (lower sidewall height) from what I've seen are allowed to be mounted on wider rims. All 275/70/18 tires I've looked at can't be mounted on rims wider then 8.5". With 2-1/2" lift in front and 2" rear stock tires look kinda puny to me.

Now I'm back to looking at 17" wheels again, but none of the designs I want are made for Tundra even though they have right bolt spacing and hub bore. ☹

Suspension- stock and no leveling either
It is not rubbing or anything on driving forward or reversing slow. But if you full reverse on speed it touch a bumper plastic a little so I have to trim that. The whole set up cost me $2550 including labor and tax. I also have Flowmaster 40 series muffler with cat on. And they sounds pretty amazing and it’s loud inside as well.

 

I've seen quite a few trucks here running 275/70-18's on 9" wide rims. I've paid attention because that's what I plan to run. Little surprised that's not within most manufactures specs but it seems to work just fine

 

I know I was constantly checking this thread for ideas and info for my tire and wheel set up so now I'll add my info to the topic. My truck is used mostly on-road with an occasional forest service road so didn't need anything to aggressive and I have no plans to lift it. Went with Cooper AT3's, 275/65 x 18, on 18 x 9 SCS Ray 10's. The Cooper's don't make much road noise. I'd say they are as quiet as the stock HT tires. I didn't have to remove any mud flaps or trim anything and there is no rubbing with the stock suspension. I was going back and forth on my wheel choice. Finally decided on the Ray 10's. Didn't really care for the fake bead-lock look but love the design and color of the wheel and the Stealth 6 wheel isn't available in 18", not yet anyways (hint, hint).

 

I have Cooper AT3's on my 4runner and my last truck. They don't look as aggressive as I'd personally like but they work well and if you stay in the P class tire, its a good compromise between the lame HT tires and the much heavier and more expensive AT. Only recurring issue I've had with them is, they tend to leak if they don't have a perfect bead but on the upside, they work really well in the snow and as decent as anything else I've tried in the rain. I don't do much off-roading either but they seemed to work well enough in dirt and light mud

 

Yeah, I had them on my previous Tundra and live in Oregon. They do very well on the wet roads here. Would have liked a more aggressive look too, but with that usually comes more road noise. Fortunately, never had a leaking problem.

 

This forum is great! Currently have 17 CM , no lift, Nitto G2s 275/55/20; wheel offset is +40. I will be putting on 3/1.75 suspension lift. Need some advice on bigger tire without cutting - a little trim Ok but want zero rub. Thinking 285/60 or hopefully 295/60. Anyone have any experience with similar? Thanks.

nice set up! i want to do this exact same set up but with fender flares. do your tires stick out much? i want it to be flush with the flares

 

Damn I love this set up....did you have any rubbing? did you have to do any trimming?

 

I’d say you’d be flush with a +18 offset w/ 12.5” tires.

 

Mudguard removal and alittle inner fender heat and manipulation, good to go now. Stance is ideal in my opinion.

 

I have a TRD lowered 2012 Crewmax with the factory limited wheels and 275/55/20 tires. Looking to go up to a 275/60/20 and wondering if they will fit my lowered truck. I know they will fit the stock height.

 

6 inch lift- 35 inch Nitto Grapper's. I've put over 60,000 miles on them so far (clearly after this picture was taken as there is much less tread now) and haven't had a single problem with them. Love these tires. I'm thinking of up-grading to the 37's for the next set. Oh, and I got rid of that stupid antenna since then. It's pointless anyway.
