I would think Toyota would be able to tell how many miles were actually on it, is that right? I just don't know how long ago the odometer stopped working.

also, I would assume that the 12,445 mile reading factored into the value of the truck for when I purchased.

I'm not sure if they have a way to find out without the odometer working. As far as the price goes yes I'm sure that had to do a lot with how much you paid. That's why I would take it back.

Yet another saying return it. I don't know if it's maybe just a display issue and computer knows real miles? But again just the miles alone and value is huge. I've seen plenty of 14's on cl and the like with well over 30, even 50 for like oilfield workers.

How shady of a dealership was it. Not a buy here pay here used type lot? If they won't take it back, there are agencies you can file with.

Thanks a lot for all the input. They said they would either try to fix it, or I could just turn it back in and get my down payment back. It wasn't a shady place really....it was considered a "luxury" dealer with Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc.
I think I am leaning toward just turning it back in...just an uncomfortable unknown for me when spending that much money. Don't think its worth the risk...

Uh yeah, that's what we said. Even if they fix the odo. You don't know if that's actually a45k Mile truck. If they'll still treat you like 14 for warranty than that helps. A toyo dealer may be able to tell you about service history on the warranty to prove mileage. Ie if the 20k service been used.

I'd be Leary those 25k Mike a year guys figured out how to stall the odo and trade them out every couple years

So here is my issue after installing my 295/70/18s, CB +3 shackles and 4 shims. When at a full stop or slow roll I apply full throttle the engine will power through 1st then shift into 2nd gear. Once in 2nd gear the RPMs will hold at about 4K(sometimes the traction light will flash and sometimes it won't)for a few seconds then the power will come back. I am not losing traction between shifts.

I have the hypertech speedo calibrator installed.

Anyone have this issue? If so, what did you do to correct the issue?

    Zero Point Calibration?

I believe my power steering pump is going bad on my 2000 toyota tundra after 175000 miles. The fluid is dirty, looks almost like clean motor oil. And when I first start the truck and start rolling the steering wheel has more resistance than usual. The pump is also starting to make more noise than it use to. It sounds almost like a worn out water pump. Kind of has a howl to it. Any info would be appreciated. I believe its a task I can take on but don't know if there are any special tools or that I need.

That's what I was thinking. I just called two dealers and they said $130 for a ZPC. Isn't it easy to do it with a paper clip? Can you please let me know?

On the white port drivers left leg:
4th pin from right to left on the top and 4th pin from right to left on the bottom?

    Thank you for any help

We use a laptop scan tool. Then it's easy to see the sensors readings while driving.

Going to take it back tonight after work, and continue my search for a truck. Trying not to let this leave a sour taste in my mouth about Tundras. Anyone ever heard of this happening before? Or did I just luck up with a odd outlier?

As I keep looking, anything in particular to look out for in a 2014-2015 Tundra? Hopefully the next time I am on, I will be able to post a New Member Intro! :amen:

Just bought a brand new 2016 tundra crew max 4x4 limited. When I accelerate the engine tends to make a soft whistle sound (kind of like a Diesel engine makes). Is this normal? It doesn't really bother me but if it's not supposed to be making the sound I want to get it checked out. I only have about 500 miles on the odometer

I'm not sure. I don't think so but the whistling definitely resembles that type of sound

I'd defer to the mechanic. But my curiosity is peaked. Have you opened the hood and had someone rev it so you can hear exactly where it's coming from? Is it all the time or only a minute or so after start up? Could it be coming from the muffler/tailpipe?

...no, your stock tundra is not turbo charged.

Do you have any sound/video clips of it occurring?

Isn't there some sort of screen in the intake tract that some are saying does this? I've read that some are removing it. Mine will make that sound, but it's pretty darn quiet. All I have to do is let my mind wander a little and I don't notice it anymore. lol

I was going to record the sound but I didn't hear it this morning on the way to work. Go figure. It was definitely coming from somewhere near the engine compartment.

It's the gasket right after the throttle body that's causing the noise. You can swap it out with the one for a Sequoia if it bugs you, but it doesn't hurt anything. Pics and part numbers are in my first post-

Hi, I tried searching this thread and all the forums but couldn't find any posts about this specific issue. I have a 2011 CrewMax Rock Warrior and last year one of the side rail steps broke off. I called around and found out that I couldn't get just the step replaced, I had to buy an entire new rail. I wasn't about to spend that much just for a broken step, so I used JBWeld and was able to get to stay on for a while. It came off again this winter when I cut a corner and hit a particularly icy snowbank. Any recommendations for re-attaching it? Stronger epoxy? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Not really a Toyota Tech question here so I will jump in. I would suggest the liquid nails that is weather rated. Should hold up great for that application. Another option is gorilla glue. It expands so make sure you are really strapping it down till it dries.

It was suggested I post this here I guess This is the best place for this random question.

So I just started noticing a what I can only describe as a "taking up slack feeling" when starting from a stop. I'll try and explain it as best I can. Don't laugh. It feels as if there was a giant carpeted cube in the bed that is 1/4 inch shorter than the bed itself, and when I take off from a stop, it slides back the 1/4 inch and bumps the rear tailgate. And then when I come to a stop, it slides forward toward to the cab. Obviously it's not something in the bed, it just feels like a soft thud somewhere on the truck. The bed is completely empty and I don't remember feeling this before. What could this be? Any ideas?

Tow hitch? Plastic bedliner moving? loose tie down cleat or cleats? Loose spare tire?

If none of those are it try putting one of your buddy's in the bed and see if he can pin point the "Carpeted Cube" Noise/feeling.
