Anyone with a dc replaced there 3rd brake light? I posted about this but can't find it, and believe I didn't get a lot of response from that. I keep seeing you have to remove headliner, really don't want to do that, but if someone knows a easier way, I'm all ears. Thanks

I'm not wanting to just change bulbs, I'm switching out the whole assembly, which requires that you atleast pull down the headliner to get to the 2 10mm nuts. Seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Just going with the black_out theme. Was hoping someone else had done it. There's the potential for water leak to, so looking more like its not gonna happen. Thanks for chiming in

So you don't want it at all? Or you want to just tint the lens? Pull the lens and do the vht night shades mod? Just not sure what you are wanting to do.

I found a black led 3rd brake light on eBay, was going to swap my factory assembly out. Night shades are an option also. Here's the lightuploadfromtaptalk1456886146916.jpg

Now I see. I like that. So do you have or would you add tail lights that kind of match? If no I would say the night shades of that light and your tails would look better do they matched. If you do the tails that have the small LEDs I would go for it!

Yeah I got black Spyder leds for my tails, so yes this would look good. I'm just leary about messing with the headliner. Got a couple of mechanic buddies, I might just get it installed. Thanks for your help Virgils 12

Definitely looks very cool. I've seen some decent tinted lens. How about tinted lens with LED upgrade? I'f you ever get a topper or camper you won't see it anyways. Definitely looks real cool.

No problem at all. For future reference, I started a thread 'Ask the Chilton Manual Guy'. And it's not limited to just Tundras so if you've got a project car sitting in your garage feel free to ask away.

Just pull the lens off and tint it. I picked up a spare OEM lens cheap online and just had it sprayed along with my tails. Takes 5 minutes to swap and you can replace the bulbs while you're at it. Super easy unless you want a different bulb pattern inside

Thanks Cutter29, I watched the video @headlight revolution and it doesn't look to hard to pull headliner down. I was told though if I wanted to just change out bulbs to leds that I would still have to pull down headliner. With that said I will install aftermarket assembly. The 3rd generation is much easier

Yeah, I was just gonna bag it and just swap out factory bulbs with leds, but noooo, so it's installation time.

I too was going to swap out the 3rd brake light with a tinted led one but after seeing what's required, I said F that, way more hassle than its worth. Ended up swapping out oem bulbs with LEDs and tinting the lens with night shades to match my Spyder tinted taillights. f286a33f13ae96ef7c45f22ae103eaab_7f34023d9b8984a245e1ca2bf44c1a2f1092041b.jpgec05e17d56d807c1608963e60f732777_e2e1cc9b3e08ce303211a1568ba8f7c62daf3167.jpg
