Sorry for this dumb question, but do I require an adapter harness if upgrading the stock 2018 lamp to the 2018 lamp with LED headlight?

Welcome Bill! I do believe so. You would need the same harness as 2014-2017 platinum&1794.

I have a 2014 Tundra and when I installed my lights with the new harness and re-pinned the turn signal plug, now my turn signals are rapid blinking instead of slow blinking. Has anyone had this happen to them? And if so what is the fix for it?

Correct like @SR5TRDTUNDRA said for 2018 Trucks with LED will require the same harness like 1794/Platinum

Which harness did you used? I guess you kept the violet wire in the center, violet wire must be taken out of the socket completely if not it will fast blink

I used the original harness before you came out with the new one, So I don't need to use the violet wire at all?

If you bought my harness with dimming (Don’t have your name in my records so can’t determine which harness you have) yes violet wire is still used and rewired to power dimmed DRL signal,

If you bought a harness with static DRL (bright all time fuse tapped to IGN fuse) you don’t have to use violet wire anymore, just make sure to depin violet wire from turn signal socket and cover it with electrical tape, just make sure your wires match with the picture

    2A8616B5-2E5A-4A3A-9E11-5A9A89C01685.jpg

Each wire in the outer side and violet wire out.

You will need a cavity plug for the MT spot in the center.

    Dr. Mr. iHacker,

Your quality products and attention to detail are causing my wallet a great amount of grief. While my bank account dislikes you, my OCD loves you.

I would like to purchase a harness that permits me to use the LED headlights but control the DRLs with a switch. Which harness do you recommend or could you alter one you're building to suit my needs?

    Thank you,
    Dan

Since you go to need a switch is better to go with the harness with dimming, either way you will have to remove the dash panel to install the switch and to deactivate your Amber DRL.

I hope this help, with the switch I recommended (I know is a bit expensive and there’s more options but this is the only option available to match your dash illuminated OEM switches) wiring should be like this

Good morning guys, I just want to generalize for everyone contemplating this headlight conversion

I received a question for this and I think this must be clarified to avoid any confusion

For headlights warranty claim with Toyota

For sure we are at the mercy of dealerships on this, they have the last word and they reserve their right to accept or deny a warranty claim just for a simple reason “The new 2018 LED headlights were never intended or meant to be installed in our older trucks”, no matter which harness you have used, period.

I have a good example that happened this week @Erichudgins wasn’t so lucky and received a defective headlight (I guess is the first case reported), his passenger side high beam stopped working 2 weeks after installation he used the harness with dimming DRLs and installed the headlights himself not at dealership, at first we thought it was simply a bad harness but wasn’t the case we troubleshoot the problem and he found a bad high beam LED board in the headlights assy. He took the headlight back to dealership for warranty and got a replacement now everything is working again.

I personally know this for many cases I have seen at work, dealership will try to Blame every aftermarket mod in your trucks but they can’t void your warranty just because they say it, they have to prove your mods caused the problem for what your truck or parts are in for a warranty claim.

Very much recommend this harness and this upgrade. Got my headlights last week from Cool Springs Toyota and the harness from iHacker. Got both in less than 3 days and even a day earlier than expected so was able to install them on Friday. The instructions provided for the harness worked very well. Had a couple of questions to which iHacker was immediate to respond on a Friday afternoon. Couldn't recommend iHacker's harness and Cool Springs Toyota more!

On the 1794's, is there just an easy replacement of the amber flashing lights, or could you just pop an LED bulb and done? I have the iHacker's harness.

You can simply replace the bulb with a LED bulb but this require resistors

Will they have to be inline? If so, I would guess that I'd have to modify the harness.

Yes you need to install the resistors in line, this can be done in the turn signal adapter in my harness and using 2 t-tap or posi-taps to install the resistors

If you get signal bulbs and resistors from vled, they come with an easy splice connector on the resistors. Highly recommend vled.

If you have front and rear led get 3ohm resistor. If you have only front led get the 6 ohm.

Just installed front and rear VLED turns last night w/ 3 ohm resistor. I tapped it in the rear of the truck. The white wire w/ black stripe was a little too thick for the nice tap that comes with the VLEDS resistor so had to really squeeze with some channel locks. I tried it both ways and it seemed to go better if the white/black stripe (thicker) wire was on the inside of the tap and the red wire on the outside. Still had to squeeze really hard, but it would clasp.

Oh, and I purchased one of these harnesses from iHacker and I followed the install instructions and it went great! Love it - such a quality harness.

Stayed away from the turning signals because of resistors and whatnot. Even I've always tinkered with cars, somehow I was resistant of doing so, and now thanks to most here I'm down the rabbit hole again. I thought I was done with modding...
