So when I bought my 2016 Tundra i negotiated the price because of this god forsaken DING! It is such an eyesore and drives me crazy every time i get into the car. I took it to this dent repair man for an estimate that I saw around town that does some quite impressive work. In any case, he said it was quite big and the angle where it was dented would be at least 3 hours of work at $100 per hour. He also said he would be able to remove it and make it undetectable unless someone knew where to look. So do you guys think that is reasonable? $300?

I am not too knowledgeable about dings and dents and thought maybe some of you guys are. I'll probably call around to some other dent repair persons but thought i would ask the Tundra crew. Thank you in advance.

    Cheers

    Tin

If it calms the soul, it's priceless. Someone will always get it cheaper, quicker, etc. What's it worth to you? JMHO. :anonymous:

A little of this and a little of that.
I wouldn’t just go with the “cheapest” guy either. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

I definitely get it but I don't want to get ripped of either. Just want to know if it's in the ballpark. If it was $200 I would pull the trigger.

    Completely agreed

I'm a analyst so I like other people's opinions. It helps me get an estimation.

    Thanks

Usually the dealer will fix the easy to repair dents rather than cut the price. If they did cut the price it's usually because they had the room anyway. If you really want to find out what it's worth, go by the dealer's body shop and get a quote. I had a similar dent on the side of a Taco in front of the rear wheel. Local dealer wanted $960 and they "would have to repaint the whole bedside". Got it fixed by their dent-less repair guy on the side for $275 and never looked back. Don't think I got ripped off and don't want to know either.

    Where ya located?
I have a paint less guy that is incredible in the Bay Area.

I’d ballpark that to be a $400ish dent.

Yeah, new vehicles get ding’d all the time during transport, dealers have a dent guy on acct. Cars get fixed and the new owner is none the wiser.

I’ve had paintless dent repair done on nasty dents, and I’d say he’s not far off on cost. Check his work or references, and if you feel confident in his ability, do it.

I'd pay $300 in a heartbeat to get that thing removed. I cried when I got a ding about 1/100th the size of that.

Thanks for the suggestion but if you notice the dent, it aligns snug with the crease from the window sill so I am actually assuming some skill would be involved since the pads need to completely rest on the same plane versus to tangent planes. in addition, if its done horizontally, then i am sure it would be special smaller foot print pads to account for how the center of the dent is so close to the tangent window plane. i guess what i am saying is if it was a door ding ... i am super ocd and would probably give it a try.

Thank you regardless ... I appreciate your input.

    Cheers

I am curious how much you saved on the truck because of the dent? More than $300? I would pay to get it fixed. It looks like the rest of the truck is straight. Just look at it as your first "mod" haha

Try this one, passenger side a-piller, still there a year later, decided to not have it fixed, PDR said maybe with a glue pull but not sure, body shops are pretty pricey, so there it remains, I remind myself that I have been told chicks dig scars....

That's going to be tough to get out without cracking the paint. The pics make it look pretty deep. The issue will be the stretching of the metal. Even if it were to come outward, it would more than likely e bowed outward instead of inward.. just my 2cents:/

Tell him to ask you if he wants to drill a hole somewhere.

Some Body Shops want them do it without any drilling.
