285/75r18 help

Hi guys, I did a search on here and there doesn't seem to be a lot of people running this size tire. I am going to be ordering up my wheels/tires/suspension this month, but wanted to verify a couple things before hand.

As the title says I am thinking of going with a 285/75r18 on my 2018 1794. I will be doing like the other two members I have found on this board that are running this size tire, and will be going with a 18x9 wheel with a +25mm offset to try an avoid having to do the body/cab mount chop.

My question is, will this size tire clear the body mount and everything else (assuming I trim the skid plate and remove the front mud flaps) on that wheel if I choose to go with Bilstein 6112/5160 at the top height setting of 2.5", or would I need to step up to a suspension that offers a full 3" lift like the OME kit?

I’m not sure they make em in that size I believe with an 18” rim it would be a 285/70. Aslos depends on the tire you want, which what are you thinking? But don’t quote me I’m sure one of the other members with more knowledge will chime in.

 

I would probably run them on something closer to a 3" lift if it were me. I've seen 295/70/18 run on the Bilstein at highest setting, but the 285/75/18 I think are about a half inch taller. I would play it safe and go with the little higher lift.

 

I was surprised as well, but I believe that a few different manufactures have begun to make a 285/75r18. I was looking at either Nitto Ridge Grappler or Goodyear Duratrac. I just wish cooper made the S/T Maxx in that size, as I had those on my last tundra and they looked/performed kickass.

This is what I was was thinking as well, that it would probably be wise to play it safe and just go with a 3" lift.

Well I’ll be they do make them nitro does I just check. I’ve been looking at bags primarily and I’m fairly sure they done offer that size ... at this time ... maybe that’ll change. That nitros a heavy tire though for my liking but it also states a 35” diameter inflated

 

I'm not a huge fan of the really stuffed look, I like to see some gap between the fenders and the tires. Nothing against those that run the biggest tire possible on smallest lift, I just prefer a little more space.

 

I’m running 285/75/18 on stock rims with a 3/1 leveling kit. No rubbing and I’ve been pleased.

 

Yeah, I am thinking that would probably look a bit better.

Very nice Tundra I think that is pretty much that stance that I would like to go with, maybe 1.5" in back.

 

I’m looking to do the same setup with the 3 in 1 and the 285 75 18 on stock TRD rims. I just wasn’t sure about the factory offset being +60. Didn’t know if i had to purchase wheel spacers. I prefer not too. Great looking truck!

 

On stock wheels too huh? I want to PC my wheels and run this setup too good to see! What lift are you running?

 

Yep, stock wheels with no spacers. I’ve got the @Toytec Lifts TU3 kit on the truck. It’s been great for 8k miles. Some mild off road driving when hunting/camping and zero complaints.

 

jro05065, can you please confirm the stock wheels you are using are 18x8”. I just picked up a 2018 SR5 and was planning on putting TRD pro wheels on it with the 285/75R18’s you mentioned, but most people I mention that to seem to think 8” wheels are a bad idea. Your truck looks great, BTW. Thx!

 

@hpspool hey thanks. Yeah, I have the stock TRD OR wheels that came on my '17 SR5. I have zero rub and no issues with the Toyo R/T tires. I love the set up. I am not sure if the wheel specs on the TRD OR are the exact same as the TRD Pro wheels...you might want to double check on that. Best of luck!

 

Anybody has tried 285/75r18 with a 18x9 0 offset wheels? What do you guys think, will it fit.

If ya get adjustable coilovers you could test fit em at 2.5” of lift, and always move em up to 3” if they won’t clear. Most guys don’t have much issue clearing 295/70’s on 2.5-3” of front lift, and with the 285’s only being 11.2” or so inches wide I think you could fit em. Wish more manufacturers made tires in this size actually, I may go to that size of Duratracs when my Ridge Grapplers wear out.
