So i have a chance to get some brand new bfg ko2 a/t for $50 per tire but the catch is the date code is 4215.

Do i jump on this deal and install them on my new method vex until i can afford 35s or no due to the date code being 3 years old?

any input would be great as i have a limited time i can buy them

I think 6 years was expiration life span of a tire. I would examine them, look for cracks, flat spots, and anything else abnormal- inside+out. 3 years on the shelf can still rot out a tire, compared to a year or two driving on the road. $200 for a little up size isn't too bad of a deal.
Or look into a cheaer 35" setup.

im going to look at them on thursday to check for any signs of rot. as there will be no warranty on them due to date code. but i thought for a bit of an upgrade $200 is worth it and im selling my stocks for $350 so really im not out of pocket any money on these.

even a cheap 35 is around 900-1000 for a decent brand

There is no “expiration” per se on tires. I am in the business of warehousing tires and yes, manufacturers (the big ones) like to keep tires no older than that in their DCs but they will start selling them to wholesalers and retailers at a discounted rate after a few years. Some retailers we work with don’t even look at the DOT dates.

Unless you plan on keeping those tires for like 10+ years I don’t think you have much to worry about. For that price it is not a big gamble at all.

More rare to find older new tires from the big guys. The discounted aged tires are usually and off brand thing but this sounds like a steal!

I would definitely jump on those! As long as you don't see any signs of cracking, for $200 I would run them.
