    Hi All,

    First time poster here.

I have a 2008 Extended cab, 5.7, 4wd, long box. Tow package installed (aftermarket brake controller to be added soon).

I am getting into a travel trailer and wanted some advice/confirmation about towablity and safety.

The travel trailer I am getting into has a GVWR of 8500lbs. The hitch weight is 650lbs (based on average weight, per the manufacture's website).

The trailer will be coming with a weight distribution hitch w/ sway control.

Is this trailer too much for my truck? I know it can tow 10,300lbs but that doesn't take into account max payload, including hitch weight.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

No no...the trailer isn't 10,000lbs. If it is fully loaded, it would be 8500lbs.

Seriously brother, it will tow it. lots of people pulling around that kind of weight. You will know it's there and you will probably get 9 mpg.

10-4...yeah, I'm not looking forward to the gas mileage...I just want to make sure I am able to safely tow the damn thing. I really don't want to have to get a new truck.
