Tonneau Cover Options

do you even use your OEM bed rails for the Retrax? ive seen people remount the OEM rails a few inches below their bed cover rails (not necessarily retrax)

 

My cover uses the bed rails to clamp to. If I want to slide the tie down points in I just unscrew the rear clamp and put the tie down point in place, and re-clamp the tonneau cover. With the front ones tightened down it's easy and quick to do this, and don't have to worry about the cover moving.

I ended up returning my bakflip g2, after installation I hated the way to rails mounted and was told he shims to align it properly where already installed from the factory, which they were not. Plus both sinch straps were broken in the shipping. I'm going to order a soft tri fold one on the near future.

 

Thanks for all of the feedback on covers. I have narrowed it down to 2 options: Retrax Pro MX and Truck Covers USA American Roll Cover. Retrax has a bigger canister (13'') to keep the cover from rolling on to itself. Also has sealed ball bearing rollers. Can open it and lock it in any position. American roll cover has smaller canister (8'') and is tension driven with a strap to open and close. Would take up less space, but it rolling on to itself seems to invite more wear and tear, in addition to it freezing on itself (I am in the snow all winter). Truck Covers USA seems to have more options with it (integrated rail system to put cargo bars, Yakima products, etc.).
Any feedback with experience with these 2 products is greatly appreciated.
