My initial plan was to replace amp and add a subwoofer and then a couple of months later upgrade the speakers. This seems to be the plan favored by most people on this forum. On the Tacoma forum a lot of people think the most bang for the buck is to upgrade speakers. In fact there is a fairly long thread on people that are just changing out the stock speakers and some just tweeters to start. They think the little OEM amp is sufficient. I want to do both but for the next several month my free time will be limited. Turkey season starts Saturday and we are getting in to my favorite time of the year to fish. Then there is my annual neighborhood cookout and party. After reading posts on the Tacoma forum I am now leaning towards doing the speakers first.

Have you made any progress? This is exactly my plan. I have JL 10w3’s which I believe are to deep to fit anywhere. But have a 4-channel amp waiting to be installed with new speakers.

Those are top notch for sure but yes they may be difficult to find a way to fit. You could try selling them to fund buying a set that will definitely fit

FWIW, i added just an amp and subs to the stock system and it made a big difference. Now im ready to do the rest.

Are you just replacing the amp it came with or adding an amp?..

I planned on just replacing the factory amp with the 4-channel. Also have a amp for subs too, but feel like I need a sound processer also. I’ve been wondering if the kicker 10” or 12”rt loaded enclosure with the passive radiator will fit behind the backseat?

Are you guys telling me that I can add an amp to my stock headunit in my 16’ SR5. The system sucks ass, it’d be sweet to be able to change things without changing my display... I’m cheap/poor :)

Ahh....Chevy S10’s with shitty pastel paint jobs, lowered so much they got stuck on pine cones, beds that lifted up and rotated, when bass was overlaid with the rattle of all the loose parts in the truck.....RUN DMC and Nemesis heard throughout the neighborhood....every Mercedes hood ornament in town missing.....the taste of MD20/20....the smell of hairspray everywhere....

‘twas a simpler time. I wonder...did the Posse make it to Broadway?

You can add a Digital sound processer to tune up signal put out by headunit. Then will have rca’s for front, rear, and subs. New head unit ends up not being much more.
