So really have liked the 1st gen for years. Thinking about picking one I found up if the deal works out. 2005 sr5 double cab. 120k miles. Leveled, new wheels and tires, canopy...super clean inside and out. All maintenance records. 2 owners...one currently has had since 20k. Always garaged. But it’s 17k...go for it or no? Appreciate the opinions.

Rust shouldn’t be an issue then. I would check the maintenance records for the timing belt replacement(sticker on intake/engine cover), coolant flush and that there’s no play in the ball joints. Is it 4x4?

Coolant flush at 100k. Timing belt and water pump recently done. Ball joints seemed fine as well. It is 4x4.

Let is know how it goes. Loving this resale retention. Might be able to get back half what I paid for my 2002 Tundra 17 years ago and roll it into a new one. Yes!

Sounds like a good find but $17k is a little much, imo. If it were a limited, maybe.

A pic would be nice. Somewhat high but then again it seems to have been taken of. The new rims/tires and canopy can add to the value depending on what they are.. IMO

New leer canopy...new Toyo mts...not sure on brand of wheels but fresh powder coat. Thought about looking for a limited but honestly wanted cloth seats. Heated seats and sunroof aren’t a big deal...have that on my ‘16 lol. But what do you all think would be more of a fair price?

Thats your call bud. That looks like an access cab in the pic? 120k miles is low. Blown away on these resales prices. Let us know how it works out. I would not go more than 10k, but thats my area pricing. Maybe pay a premium on the mint condition? And if ALL the maintenance is up to date.

If its a double cab they are wanting 15k around here. No way I’d buy it. Rather get two access cabs for the same price. People are paying the high prices though.

I was replying to an old post, he may or may not have bought the truck he was looking at...but yeah, resale prices are high in my area, but the truck was mint and all services records...deal done

Im sure there's lots of 1st gen guys that would let you pick their truck up for that much.

How do you do it? I'd imagine you'd have to be in the center and like bench press it.

If the Tundra is/has been kept mechanically sound then I’d pay close to those asking prices. Assuming lower miles in 150k range.

My year and type just sold here for $8500. From the mech history the guy provided he seemed anal which is the extact seller you want. In my case, I just reinvested $5k in her (after deciding to keep for 3 more years) and wouldn't let it go for less than $12k. I know I wouldn’t get it but you get the point.

Pretty amazed on the resale these things are getting.

I have been searching for a double cab 4x4 1st gen tundra for about 2 months now. Have seen them from 6k-16k private and dealerships. Bought my high mileage double cab sr5. Sunroof, trd pkg, meticulously maintained by the original owner 272k miles, snugtop, waterpump and timing belt just replaced 400 miles ago. $6500. Was a bitchin deal until I went to register it and paid all the back and late fees lol. In socal, a clean low mileage 4x4 double cab in great shape will run about 12k all day. Of course, deals pop up occassionally.

My 06' LOADED Limited cm sold for $16k in an affluent zip code, in 1 day. It was absolutely meticulously maintained without any intervals missed for every 5k miles, by a single master tech, for it's entire 150k miles. It was considered above market value since the other gen 1's were selling for $12-14k.

I will be selling my 1st Gen pretty soon, since I had to upgraded to a 2nd Gen Crewmax with a new addition to the family. It has 117k.

My one owner 2006 TRD with 75K was asking 19,000, I paid 18k. Had entire truck gone through with new fluids, grease, new Bilsteins, brakes, new Michelins, etc. Then added stereo/back up camera so the cost crept up. However, it is a cherry example and runs/handles great! This will be my friend for a long time!

Crazy how much value these things have retained.

Well, it’s like having a new truck that does everything I need for 1/3 the price of a new one- seems like a good deal to me. Plus, I didn’t want a huge truck that would get stuck in a Seattle parking garage.
I even had to walk a mile to the ferry to get to the mainland, take two busses to Seattle, ride the train to Portland, OR to test drive and then drove it home!

$17K at that many miles and it's an SR5, I’d say that’s way too much! I just purchased a 2005 double cab XSP 4x2 with a 93600 miles for $10k... private sale. It just had new Michelins, timing belt, water pump, radiator and head gaskets within the past 2 months! Although it’s rwd 4wd is maybe $1500-2000 more. I’m in the Southeast. Keep looking!

That's how I ended up with the RCSB that I purchased over a year ago, I didn't want anything larger than my '02 RCLB. My high mileage '07 was priced thousands below any decent Gen 1 available in my area (SE).
