Bully dog gt issues

i just got a bully dog gt platinum tuner , for my 17 SR5.. I m updating the tuner but 10-14 is the only thing that shows up!... has anyone had this issue??

It will work fine with your 2017. I had the same question when I installed mine. But do yourself a favor and don't install until Monday when bullydog is open. In case you run into an issue during install like I did. You don't want to brick your ecu.

What type of charger are you guys using while the bully dog tune being put it? Does it have to be certain amp charger or volt ?? Need to reinstall mine and need to get some type of charger to do it ? Help!

 

I just use an 85 amp charger from Autozone

 

I don’t have the same bully dog I have the BDX. I thought about just putting a battery tender on but I went ahead and put on my diehard battery charger. I did have it at 2 A but I noticed the battery level dropping a little bit so I charged it at 10 A.

 

85 amp is just for 10 seconds at a time when you have it on jumpstart. Correct? That’s a lot of amps

 

Correct, it's rated at 85 but auto delivers what is needed

 

So buy a charger that can go at lesser 10 amps?

I think you should be OK if you’ve got more than just a battery tender. If you’ve got a charger that’s meant to charge a battery from dead to full charge it’s probably sufficient. Shit for all I know it might work with one of those standard battery tenders. Back when I used to use Superchip I didn’t use a charger at all. But the bully dog takes quite a bit longer to fully download. Especially the initial set up of the device. I would think in the future it should just take a few minutes.

Yea mine has already been in before.. I just put it back to original when I took it in to Toyota. I got scared and unplugged everything. Anyone else just hide the bully when taking it in to Toyota or do you uninstall the tune back to factory??

 

I have DAP tune now that was done in person so it can’t be detected by the dealer. I had bullydog prior and would revert back tonstock time when I took it in for free oil change. I still have the bd in the truck as a monitor and I still remove it when going tot he dealer, even though the tune isn’t installed. That and I remove my Traction Control Disabler as well.

Both would work. But the upper one looks more versatile with more amperage.I like the looks of the bottom one but it doesn’t have jumpstart

 

I got the bottom one.. $50 cheaper than top and this is the only thing I’ll be using it for.. should be cool thanx for all the help fellas
